Won't shuffle playlists IOS MAZDA

downloaded Spotify for the first time. 3 month free trial.

all works fine until hooking up phone to Bluetooth in my 2013 Mazda CX-5. Shuffle does not work, after each skip, shuffle switches off. 
this is a well documented issue since 2017. Amazed there has been no fix. Since this is a key feature for me, Spotify have exactly 3 months to remedy this, since I won't be paying for a defective service.
