Works with ipad but not ipod touch

Hello,
Im using spotify on my ipad 2 connected to my car stereo via usb and i can fully control it, change music from steering wheel, but as soon i connect my ipod touch last generation i cant control it, it even doesnt play, only aux works with iphone touch, what im doing wrong??

What version of iOS and Spotify are running on those devices?

Same here, when I use my Spotify account thru my desk top computer and then control it on my iPhone, it works perfectly but when I use my new iPod Touch and try to do the same, it’s useless, (almost)!! it does play music, but if I’m away from it and want to control it remotely thru my iPhone, it does not respond fully. I can change songs but I can’t control the volume on the device. I guess the correct term would be, “they don’t sync with each other fully” like it happens when I use my desk top.

*Im running iOS 11.2.2 on both of my devices (iPod & iPhone)
