Your Episodes, Remove finished episodes after playing doesn't work

The setting to remove finished episode from the Your Episodes list no longer works for podcasts that have been downloaded either manually or via auto-download.

Streamed episodes are still removed from Your Episodes as expected.

People reporting the same issue on Reddit.

I'm the original reporter and yes I agree! The bug seems to have returned again in the past two weeks. Once a podcast is played, the episode does not get automatically deleted. I'm on iOS with Spotify version 9.1.24.1737

Hey @patthedog,

Thank you for reporting this and for the additional info!

On my end the episodes disappeared when I de-selected and re-selected the setting from the mobile app. Could you try doing the same?

If this doesn't help out, we can try some troubleshooting instead - see if clearing the cached data on your device would make a difference. Log out of the app and back in twice in a row after this to trigger a manual sync of your settings and data. In case the issue remains - see if going for a complete clean reinstall of the app would change things for you.

Should the behaviour of Your Episodes remain the same, let us know what your device is, as well as its OS version and your Spotify app version.

Hope this helps! We'll be on the lookout for your reply 🙂

I’m seeing exactly the same issue with the Your Episodes auto-delete setting not working on iOS. Even with “Remove after playing” turned on, episodes that were downloaded stay in Your Episodes and stay downloaded after I finish them. This matches what others have reported, where downloaded episodes do not auto-remove while only streamed episodes do seem to disappear.

I have tried restarting the app, clearing cache, and confirming the setting is enabled, but nothing changes the behavior. It feels like a regression compared with how this used to work, and it affects local storage and usability because old episodes pile up.

If anyone at Spotify is tracking this bug, I would appreciate an update on whether a fix is planned, and a rollback or official guidance on a workaround if possible.

Having the same issue.  The fix did not work.

Thanks for the reply. I followed the steps but the problem persists. I'm using an iPhone 13 Mini, iOS 26.3, Spotify app 9.1.26.2291
