can’t play spotify in car

My Question or Issue

i don’t know when this started but it was this year for sure in the last few months. i use to be able to plug my charger into the car usb port and my music playing on spotify would come through the speakers. it stopped working recently and i thought it was the car but then i tried to play apple music the same way and it works fine? i would prefer to use spotify because it’s better but it’s saying it’s failed to connect or error etc. anyone else had this problem recently/ know how to fix it?? thanks
