iPad won’t let me save songs to playlist

iPad won’t let me save songs to playlist

On my iPad I used to be able to save songs to a playlist by clicking on the 3 dots next to the song. Now, the list of options for saving pops up, but disappears immediately. On my iPhone, it works, because the 3 dots have been replaced by a tick in a circle. Any ideas how I solve the iPad issue?

I’m having the same problem on my IPad. Works fine on my other devices.

Hi folks,

Can you please let us know the following info:

  • Device model + OS version
  • Spotify app version
  • When did this start happening - after an OS or app update?
  • Try logging in a different account on your iPad and check if you can add songs there

This info will help us look further into what has caused the issue.

Cheers.

Click the add to playlist button and the playlists tab pops up but disappears quickly so you can’t select anything

I have the same problem. I'm personally on a 4th generation iPad Air, on iPadOS 16.1. Not sure when exactly it started happening but I already had this problem recently when I was still on iPadOS 15. It's working fine on iPhone 12 Pro Max iOS 16.1. Spotify version is 8.7.68.568 on both devices.

Hi folks,

Thanks for the information you've submitted about this.

Can you try logging out of the app, clearing the app data and logging back in? Let us know if that helps.

Hi Alex

iPad Air 2 running on iOS 15.7

Spotify version 8.7.68.568

noticed a week or two ago don’t think I’d updated anything. I’ve logged out and logged back in I’ve deleted and reinstalled and I’ve wiped the cache and still not luck.

I spoke to the agents on the help chat and I’ve logged in on a tester account and it works fine for them but not on my account. My add to playlist button looked different to theirs mine has a heart whereas theirs has the music icon and a plus. Other devices I use Spotify on work fine it’s just my iPad. The agents on the help chat did say about creating a new account but I don’t want to do that so hopefully there’s a fix as other people seem to have the same issue as me.

Thanks Hannah

Seems to be working fine after today's update to 8.7.78.426

Hey @gutitto,

Thanks for letting us know!

@Han_RM could you also update the app to the latest version and let us know if this is fixed for you as well?
Many thanks!

Hi, the update has fixed this! Thank you 🙂

I have two devices and the same thing happens on both:

device 1: iPad Air 2 model no. MGLW2B/A software version IOS 13.6.1 - cannot update to later version on due to full storage

device 2: iPad Air  (5th generation) model no.  IOS version  15.6.1  Spotify version 8.7.68.568. I have reinstalled and close / re-started but the problem still exists.

There is no option to update my Spotify version, so I am assuming it’s up to date.  I’ve rebooted by iPads but still cannot add to playlists.

Hi @Jennydevaux!

It's possible that the update hasn't rolled out to you yet, but this should happen in the upcoming days. In the meantime, it's worth to logging in to another account (a friend's or a relative's would do) and then signing back to your own to see if that does the trick.

Cheers!
