iPhone Six skips over songs with steering wheel controls

2015 Subaru Forester

While toggling to the next song via steering wheel controls, Spotify jumps over the next song and plays the third in the que. I've tried this while playing iTunes and it's not an issue. 

Anyone else having this issue?  Seems to be a Spotify issue and not an iPhone issue being that it's only a problem while using Spotify.
