My Question or Issue
When I play Spotify on my iPhone/iPad/Mac/Windows/AppleTV all the other devices (except the Sonos) can actually see the current playing song and pause./play music and select different tracks.
When I play from Spotify on my Sonos One pair, non of the other devices sees the play, nor is able to control what is playing to the Spotify app. It would be helpful is I could use Spotify on any device to skip the current song or pause playing.
Note that this is not a connection issue. All my devices will happily use the Sonos to play music on. The issue ("lack of universal control") is when the Sonos is playing on its own.
Hey @AnneMVoss,
Thanks for reaching out!
Even when the Sonos is playing on its own, if its playing from the same account, the other devices should be registering the playback and provide controls via the Connect function.
If this isn't working as it should, we could try resolving the issue via some troubleshooting! 🙂
Firstly, let's make sure that the speaker's firmware is up do date. In case there are any updates - please install them and restart the device.
Once you're sure there are no more pending updates - we can try to unlink the Spotify & Sonos accounts and to link them again.
We hope this helps but do keep us posted on how things go!
We'll be on the lookout for your response 🙌🏼
That unfortunately did not work.
The app tells me the software is up-to-date, I think it reads 15.3
In the screenshot you can see that the Sonos system (app) is playing Marcus Miller.
While the Spotify app tells me it is ready to start playing Blues Walk.
When I press play on the Spotify app, it will start playing Blues Walk, while the Sonos pair is still playing (probably due to buffering).
When I later press the play button on one of the speakers, the Spotify app stops playing immediately the Sonos starts playing its playlist from the start.
Hey @AnneMVoss,
Thanks for your reply.
In this case, we'd like to add some insights. For starters, we'd like you to know that we're currently investigating the Connect feature not working within the desktop app here. We'd recommend taking a look at it and subscribing to the thread to get notified as soon as we have more info to share.
On another note, we'd recommend doing a factory reset of your Sonos device to see if you notice any difference after that. You can follow these steps to do it:
If the above doesn't do the trick, would you mind sending us the Spotify version you're running on your computer?
Lastly, keep in mind that it's expected not to see what's playing on your Sonos speaker from your Apple TV. TVs are compatible with Connect, and you can control them from other devices that support the native Spotify app (mobile/desktop/web). However, you can't use a TV to control the playback on other devices.
Keep us in the loop and don't hesitate to get back to us if you have any other questions.

My Question or Issue
The Spotify notification widget/player has stopped updating in line with live play. When the app is playing via Sonos, the widget/notification player no longer reflects what is playing or that the app is playing at all. The app does reflect what's playing live via Sonos, but only if you open the full app and wait a few seconds or re-start the app (the latter is more frequently required).
