My Question or Issue

I play one song and then within the first second of the next, the audio is cut and stops playing. the image for the song and the play/pause button become grayed out. I can barely navigate the system and if I try and go into another playlist it either doesn't or loads indefinitely. This forces me to close and restart the app, however when I try and play music again it only plays one song before the problems arise again.

I have already updated both my phone and the app, logging out, deleting the app, reinstalling the app, logging back in, turning off the data saver, changing streaming quality, restarting the phone and app several times, and clearing the cache.

Same here, really annoying!

Hey folks,

Thanks for reaching out to the Community about this.

We're sorry to hear you're experiencing issues with playing songs on Spotify.
@Slavic_Names . Thank you for the troubleshooting you've done so far.  Can you confirm that you followed the steps that's provided in this article for the install you've made? There is helpful information for thoroughly uninstalling the app from your phone. So if you haven't gone over it, we'd highly suggest it doing this, since following these steps will make sure there's no old cache files causing this.
If this doesn't help can you shot a quick video of what you see on your screen as well as write down the exact Spotify version that you're using?

@davitzy  & @nuritiki  Can you let us know what troubleshooting steps you've done so far?
In addition, could you head over to the steps mentioned above? If this doesn't work out for you let us know your Spotify version as well.

Keep us in the loop here.

Hi Elena

I have recently been experiencing a problem on the Spotify Music App.

The music-playing stops after 2-3 songs, and the app basically crashes/freezes. I can not play/pause, skip a song and everything is frozen/loads (cant click on anything, pictures not showing) and I have to restart the App again and again.

I have been:

- Deleted and reinstalled the App (done twice)

- Logged out and in (done twice)

- Restarted the Iphone X (done twice)

- Toggle Autoplay and Crossfade on and off (100x times)

- Clear cache

- Updated the IOS (to 15.6)

- Updated the App (I think 8.7.55)

And yet the problem still occurs.

I have been using the App for 3 years with no problem at all, until the past week.

Im having the same problems.  Plays a couple songs, then completely freezes to the point that i can't even navigate the app. i have already followed the deletion and re-downloading steps as linked by the moderator.  This helped for about 3 hours of listening, and then the problem returned.  Freezing happens regardless of wether songs are downloaded or not. I have also tried any other potential fixes i have found in this and other forums.  No solution yet.

Hey there,

Thanks for the reply.

Could you make sure, that you have the background app refresh enabled for Spotify? Here is how to do that. Also turn off the energy saving mode, if it is activated.

It's also important to have enough free space on the phone, could you check that?

How does the app behave when you use a different Spotify account on the phone?

Keep us posted,

Cheers!

Hi Dian,

I have been refreshed the app loads of times, energy saving mode is always turnt off, I have about 17 GB of storage space left on the IPhone. As far as accounts, I only have 1 premium account and does not have multi-accounts.

Hi @davitzy,

Thanks for confirming.

If possible, you can ask a friend or a relative who uses Spotify to log in to their account on your device to see if they'd experience the same behavior.

Does switching to a different wifi network / mobile data have any effect on this? If you're using a VPN, try disabling it temporarily. Also, does the issue occur when you're playing music to an external wifi / bluetooth device with Spotify Connect or when you're listening locally on your phone?

If you could capture the app's behavior in a short screen recording, that'd be greatly appreciated as it would help us get a clear view of what's happening on your end.

We'll be on the lookout for your reply.

sorry for the late reply I've been working a lot. However, even after doing a second clean reinstall of the app as the article you linked stated, I have still run into the same issue.

I tried with and without Bluetooth connections and still the same problem.

Hey there @Slavic_Names

Thanks for getting back to us.

Could you let us know if this is happening across devices or only on your phone? Also, we'd like to know if this happens with all playlist or only with a specific one.

On another note, would you mind trying if the same happens using a different internet connection?

We'll be on the lookout.

Hey I am also having the same problem. I’ve been in contact with Spotify customer support for days and have gone through all suggested trouble shooting steps, including the ones in this forum. It only happens on my iPhone and Spotify seems to work fine on my Mac book and Xbox. As well I went on my friends phone and it seemed to work although I only tested it for an hour. The problem happened wether I was on 5g, lte, wifi, or if I had my songs downloaded. Also it happens more often when I’m using a Bluetooth but it still happens if it’s just streaming from my phone. It happens with any playlist I have. Attached are my pictures of what it looks like.

Oh also someone from Spotify support said something about my cache having a slight hickup. Whenever the app messes up if I try to go to storage to clear my cache it won’t allow me to do so. Even if the app is still playing music it won’t let me interact with the remove cache button.

Ok one more thing attached is the pic of the storage button after it freezes. No idea if that helps.

Same. Hoping someone figures this out, I've done every troubleshooting step possible.

It was happening on all playlists even if the songs were downloaded or not and even if I turned off Bluetooth and wifi completely. However, for unknown reasons, it seems to have been working fine for the past few days now. If this starts back up again I will reply again to your questions.

Live, love, laugh and listen to music 🙂

Hello, it has been working most of the past 10 days, but sometimes, i
cannot determine why it stops again, but it happens maybe after playing 100
songs while before it happened every 5 to 10 songs.
Lets keep researching! 🙂

Hey @nuritiki,

Thanks for the info!
If this continues to be an issue, we'll get to the bottom of it 🙂

Keep us posted, folks.
Cheers!
