Playlist stops playing when in background

The update for the Spotify works great except for this one problem. I'll play a song in my starred playlist (or any playlist for that matter), then get off the app so the playlist is playing in the background, then when a certain song is done, the next song doesn't start playing when it's still in the background. I have to get back on the app, skip to the next song, then go back to the last song, then it'll start playing. The playlist doesn't continually play in the background for some reason. 

 

Would uninstalling then reinstalling it fix the problem? Any reason why that may be happening? Thank you.
