My Question or Issue

This happened to me a while ago. One day I opened the app and buttons and some icons were missing. I didn't care much because I knew where some buttons were so I was using the app normally but it's very annoying to see just blank. I tried redownloading the app, but it won't help

Hey AlejaR!  So, I found out what the problem is and noticing how this is a problem that's happening with Xiaomi phones, my theory might be correct.

I love the customizability of android and one thing I always do with my phones is install a custom system Font (found in like the themes app in Xiaomi phones).  I noticed that once I reverted to the stock Font that MIUI provides, it automatically changes the icons again to the stock Spotify icons. When I try changing the Font again to a third party developed System Font, the icons in the Spotify App start spazzing again.

For those who still have this problem with Xiaomi, restore your system default font and see if that works!

Hey folks,

Welcome to the Spotify Community and sorry for the late response as we just came across this thread.

This type of issue is usually related to some damaged cache stored on your device from previous updates. We'd recommend performing a clean reinstall of the app. This is often an overlooked step, but it's more thorough than a regular one and can be helpful in getting rid of any cache that might be causing trouble.

In case the issue persists after the process, would you mind trying in the Web Player to see if it makes any difference? This will give us a better look at the issue.

We'll be on the lookout.

No, I tryed that and it didn't help. I don't know now

Hey there,

Thanks for the replies.

Could you make sure you're running an official version of the Spotify app downloaded from the Google Play store? What's the version number you're using?

Does this issue occur on a different mobile device with your account or with a different account on your device?

Keep us posted,

Cheers!

Hey there @himyoung

Thanks for getting back to us.

No worries, there're also a few other things we can try. Can you make sure that Spotify has all necessary permissions enabled?

  1. Open your Settings menu.
  2. Scroll to the bottom to find Spotify and open the app settings.
  3. Enable everything you see.

It's also a good idea to exclude the app from any Battery optimization software that might be active on your smartphone.

Keep us posted.

Hey @himyoung,

It seems this is an experience related to your specific device and the operating system on it.

We encourage you to contact the manufacturer of your phone to get further assistance in resolving the issue.

Hope this clears things a bit,

Cheers!

Free, Ukraine, Android 11, Xiaomi note 8 pro. This problem started somewhere in the end of spring or at the beginning of summer. I had spotify for quite a while, and it was working perfect. But for the last couple monts i've been facing a couple of problems repeatedly. I can't see my play button, when music playing i can't see it in notifications, and i need to restart app for two to three times to get it to play music. I tried deleting app, i tried clean deleting it. So any variants?

Hi there @emptinessinthecloset,

Thanks for reaching out about this in the Community!

We've received reports that Spotify users in the temporarily occupied regions of Ukraine, such as Kherson and Melitopol, are unable to use the Spotify app due to certain internet restrictions.
However, we have no control over the internet restrictions in those regions and we can't guarantee that the app will work as expected.

If you're not living in such a region, you can try creating a new free account for test purposes and see if you can play music from that one. If it works, you can transfer your music library over, following this guide.

Hope this information helps.

Hey @Josei23,

Thanks for you reply and for the screenshots you kindly sent us.

We'd like to gather as much info as possible. Would you mind sending us the exact Spotify version you have installed on your device?

On another note, we understand you've already reinstalled the app (kudos for that!). Could you confirm if you followed the steps in this article to perform a clean (more thorough) reinstall? By doing that the app can be up-to-date and you can make sure the cache is not leading to this inconvenience.

Lastly, is this happening over WiFi? 3G/4G? Both? Do you notice any difference if you switch the internet connection you're using? Give it a try and let us know how it goes.
Keep us in the loop!
