My Question or Issue
The Spotify app for Android TV is not working. Songs play for 8 seconds without sound and then skip to the next song, again without sound. Other apps on the TV work fine. I cleared the cache, uninstalled the app, reinstalled it, and rebooted the TV, but nothing worked.
I have the same issue, it appeared today once my internet broke for several minutes. Spotify has worked ok on my Sony Bravia for a few years but now it only plays sound when there is video. If it's only music - doesn't play anything and skips to the next song after 10 seconds.
Hi it's happened to me time to time in past 3 years after a while working as intended but sometimes take weeks, even with reboot or reinstall dosnt solve its more like firewall block me or is network issues

My Question or Issue
Spotify freezes and eventually crashes after playing a few songs (3-6 songs) on my Apple TVs Spotify app (I have 4 apple TV and all have the same issue). About 3 months ago or longer I never had this issue. It works fine on my iPhone, iPad, streaming to another bluetooth device and on apple car play in my vehicles. Not sure how to fix?
I have made sure all the Apple TVs and my iPhone are up to date with the latest IOS platform.
Have the same problem with my Philips google tv. What is wrong Spotify?
im having an issue where it tries to play songs for 3-6 seconds and then skips to the new one, no audio is ever played.
This problem keeps happening. Sometimes OK and not OK. I had to log out, uninstall and reinstall but still having problem.
I have fully reset my Sony Android TV and reinstalled the Spotify app and signed in. The app loads OK and can be searched but will only play video content and not songs.
When I press play on any song it shows the song streaming and at 8 seconds of silence it skips to the next song. There is no audio and the app then skips to the next song and so on. No streaming music at all.
Same here. Or used to work for month but is completely broken. Sometimes playing the song without audio, sometimes just 6 seconds wothout sound and then skip to the next song

My Question or Issue
When playing Spotify on my TV the songs play without sound and skip after an average of 6 seconds. For me it's unknown what causes the 6 seconds play time. It's not linked to song length since a difference in song length won't cause a variation in the 6 seconds playtime. It's fairly consistent after a few songs.
The problem started with the, I guess, videos that were ported to Spotify on TV's. I'm guessing since I've never seen a Spotify song video playing on my TV but I saw the Spotify cover style was changed to a wide aspect ratio of 16:9 with a faded bar on each side of the square cover. It's since that change Spotify didn't work properly on my TV. Songs play as usual on my phone, laptop and Xbox One. I did a factory reset on my TV and reinstalled Spotify but that didn't work.
I hope this gives a clear depiction of my problem

Same issue!
I have a brand new Sony TV with Google hardware. I have tried playing from the app directly on the TV. There is no sound. I do not have external speakers hooked up. And the changes after 10secs.
I have tried updating. There are no new updates. I’ve tried cleaning installing uninstalling clearing the cash, hard restarting, etc. nothing fixes it. It plays just fine on my iPhone 15 but if I try and screen it from my phone to the TV same thing, no sound and songs skip.
I play Spotify just fine on my wireless earbuds my motorcycle helmet, Bluetooth system, etc., and Apple CarPlay on my truck.
I’m having the same issue. New Sony Bravia 4K VH21. Firmware is all up to date. Tried uninstalling the app reinstalling the app hard restarting clearing the cash removing my account out of my account. Nothing has worked. Tried the Sony fix of turning off IVP six which I’m not running IVP six so it did not work. The app works just fine on my Apple phone, Apple CarPlay, and other devices via Bluetooth. I tried Bluetooth into my TV, then I tried mirroring from my TV. There is no sound whatsoever in the song skips every 10 seconds.
Happening now and for the last two months. Spotify app version 1.83.3
all other apps except peacock work fine (it won’t play episodes unless mirrored from my phone, started 2 months ago).
tv model Sony Bravia 4K vh21 android OS 10, kernel 4.19.75
no firmware listed but says tv software is up to date
Since 4.9.2024:
Spotify Connect skips most of the songs when running spotifyd 0.3.4 on a raspberry.
Up to that day it was working flawlessly.
Message given in verbose log file is: "channel error: 2 0"
A few songs could still be played.
Could it be that you have changed the file encoding / encryption ?
Best Regards
Tommaso
I have a samsung smart tv, pretty new, 2024 model. After 2 months without my spotify working and skipping songs just like most reported I decided to troubleshoots this until I find a fix.
So after many attemps, trial and error, research i came across some fixes that were all internet connection related. Althought they were working for some, it wasn’t for me.
What I found out to be unfixable was to solve this while using cable internet adapter. So when my TV was plugged to the internet via cable there was no solution to the skips.
By the time I decided to connect via Wi-fi, i did a network reset in the TV settings and spotify started working like it should. Changing back to cable breaks it and the process needs to be repeated for it to work again.
As a conclusion there might be an issue with spotify validading dns settings when the internet connection is via cable instead of wifi.
Hope this helps people with the same problem as one would hardly consider the type of internet connection to be the issue
No offence but your explanation of using an Ethernet cable vs. WiFi doesn't make any sense, unless your Ethernet is broken.
For the large majority of people who have functional Ethernet and WiFi (including myself), switching between them should have no effect on Spotify working or not.
Ethernet vs. WiFi is a low-level transport difference. On top of Ethernet and WiFi, everything else is (or should be, if things are configured correctly) the same and has no idea whether Ethernet or WiFi is being used.
