Spotify on Moto G5 (Plus)

Solved!

Spotify on Moto G5 (Plus)

I come back to Android Premium few days ago with a Moto G5 Plus mainly to use again the Connect feature on my Marantz Avr.

I've a 64 GB SD Card formatted and mounted as 'internal device'. The main memory is a 32 GB. So I've now more than 90 GB total. Please note that some app as Sygic or Instagram was installed on the SD card without any manual selection directly by Android.

But Spotify is using the internal 32 GB only. Move to SD card is not allowed by Android and there is no option in Spotify preferences to set the extended memory as download target

Is it normal?

Thanks

I had the same problem with Moto G4 and I can't remember what I did, but I think I just did the second one below which is to move the folder to the SD card.

I found this post:

https://community.spotify.com/t5/Android/How-to-store-offline-music-on-the-external-SD-card-on-andri...

"Just make sure you have an Android/data/com.spotify.music folder on your external SD card. Once this folder exists, a new option Storage is available on Spotify Settings. There you can swith to SD Card. Worked for me on Adroid 5.0."

Someone else said to just go to that location and create a folder titled that.

I also found another post:

They said:

1. delete downloaded songs

2. go to device storage/android/data -> move com.spotify.music to SD memory card /android/data (It might already be there i'd just overwrite it, donno if it matter or not)

3. download songs

Hopefully that helps!

Hi I have the same problem my friend I've connected with spotify I tried many option but it doesn't work.

I am posting this for other people coming across this post looking for a solution. I found one for the Moto G5 that does not require reformating the SD card as external storage. Just enable the Force allow apps on external option in the Developer options and move Spotify to the SD card. It probably also works for other phones that have this option.

Detailed steps:

  1. Enable Developer options: http://allaboutmotog.com/moto-g-how-to-guide/access-developer-options-menu-in-moto-g/
  2. Go to Settings > Developer options and turn on the Force allow apps on external option. It was the second to last item in the list for me.
  3. Now go to Settings > Apps > Spotify > Storage and change the storage it uses to your SD card.
