"Unfortunately,Spotify Has Stopped"

Solved!

"Unfortunately,Spotify Has Stopped"

Hi all.  I have a Galaxy S4 and Spotify Premium has worked on it for ages.  All of a sudden, it stopped working.  When I tap on the app, the screen is black and for one quick second, the green Spotify logo is on the top left.  Then it goes away and is replaced by three white lines.  Then an error message comes up that says, "Unfortunately, Spotiify has stopped."  I've uninstalled and reinstalled several times and still, it doesn't work.  Can anyone help me?  Thanks so much.  -Jennifer

Finally it worked!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanxs

I never write anything in threads but thank you. Tired it the first time and it works perfectly.

Bingo!  Sorted.  Thanks 🙂

I am so frustrated.  I  cant listen to Spotify on My New Note 4.  I just recently got a new Note 4 and for some reason when I open the app I it says unfortunately it has stop.  It is a black screen with the option to Report it or close it. After I select one of the option, the message pops up repeatedly.  I am so sick of this bc I sent out emails to the developer and no response.  What a way to provide vustomer service.  I wan to listen to my music.  I m paying for a subscription and cant even listen to it.  This is nonsense.  Can anyone help?  Who so I talk to or email?  Thanks kindly.

1) Wipe Spotify cache and data
2) Uninstall Spotify
3) Power off phone
4) Remove external memory card (SD card)
5) Restart device using only the built-in device memory
6) Reinstall Spotify
7) Does it work now?
😎 Power off device
9) Reinstall external memory
10) Restart device. should be OK now.

I was in the middle of doing this and it worked. I saw it on the page at
the bottom of the screen so i thought I try it out. I truly appreciate
your prompt response in helping me out. Who ever came up with that is a
genius. Again, thanks for your support. I am listening away.

Nananette, you don't mention that you tried the troubleshooting procedure I outlined. Every step is critical, don't skip any steps and do them in the order as numbered. Generally, it's your external memory causing the problem, because the Android operating system has become very stupid about allowing access to external memory. Remove any extra memory cards you installed. Using your Application Manager, wipe Spotify data and cache, uninstall Spotify, reinstall with NO extra memory. If you properly wiped data and cache, you will be required to re-enter your ID and Password after re-installing Spotify. If you can start Spotify without re-entering your password, then you did not properly wipe the data and cache.
.

I found the solution on the community and tried it. It worked. Thanks for
checking though.

Nananette, glad you solved your problem, so ignore my pedantic repeat of the process. I am curious: do you have extra memory in your Note 4? Did you have to temporarily remove it?

I did move it.

Tried this fix and it worked, yippee!  Thanks xx

Great! Enjoy your tunes. If you still have any questions, let us know!

Samsung galaxy s5. Android 5.0 no external memory.

Can you please support me? I couldn't find any istructions on how to fix this problem if I don't have an external memory. I clearned cache, uninstalled the app, power off the phone, reinstalled the app and still doesn't work. Many, many thanks

Gracias, thanck you ver y much. Puedo volver a usar Spotify gracias a la instalación de la versión anterior. La solución actual no fue proporcionada por Spotify sino por la Comunidad.

It experienced the same type of problems described here AFTER I updated to Spotify version 3.9.0.965.(October 14 release). After that the app carshed immedaitely after startup. The above mentioned steps did not work for me until I downgraded to Spotify 3.7.0.833 (September 24 release).
I noticed this type of behavior happens occacionaly with Android Lollipop as I had similar problmes with FB too.

Ioanadobre, this happend to me too with my GS5 Lollipop 5. I fixed it by follwing the above instructions and installing and older version of Spotify (in my case  3.7.0.833 released on September 24 worked. You may have to try out several before you find one that works and then disable automatic updates.

I have litteraly tried every solution in this thread and none of it works. I am becoming quite frustrated with this service that I pay for. I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 and a 64 GB sd card. I have tried every single solution and it just crashes as fast as I log in every time.

Did you try what I did:

You may have to download various older versions of Spotify before it works.  It took me about 4! It is frustrating but it finaly worked, and like you I have an S5 with 64GB card.

Hope it helps
