In Our Headphones: August 2021

Hi folks,

The last full month of summer is slowly slipping away, but do we really want August to go? My feelings are mixed, and so seems to be the general mood of In Our Headphones playlist this month!

Are you ready for a deep dive in a pool of summer-infused-vibes that brewed and bubbled in our headspaces this August? Yeah, I bet you are! Just hop in and be sure to enjoy this dip with a nice side-drink to cool you off, as it is a real scorcher at moments! ☀️😎

We start off with @Xenia, who clearly hasn’t been ready to say goodbye to the summer-time just yet. She nurtured her good mood throughout the whole August with tracks that still brought her: “...that strong summer vibe!” And here are her top 3 choices:

On the other hand, @Mihail  has slowly gotten excited about the approaching autumn after he found some cool Scandinavian folk, based on Norse mythology. It turned out that he started spending his last summer nights listening to the chilly melodies of Wardruna: ‘It might not be everybody's cup of tea, but I find their music really good to concentrate and space out to.’

Next in the queue are the picks of @Elena! It is evident that her strong taste for rock-solid tunes did not melt down during those last dog days of summer.  Elena has concluded that August has actually been really good on the metal front: “I found out that the vocalist from one of my fave bands (Spiritbox) has made a collaboration with another one of my fave bands (Make them Suffer) and as expected it is so so good! And Slaughter to Prevail finally came out with their whole album - cannot ask for more!”

It might not be a known Community-fact, but @Emil is a pretty decent fan of  the Electro-Swing genre - he’s been to at least 3 Parov Stelar concerts already! This past August, his Discover Weekly suggestions did not disappoint and recommended him yet another band to binge-listen to!

And for the last part of August, Emo has been preparing himself to attend another post-pandemic Balkan-music festival, featuring his favourites Dubioza Kolektiv, where he promised us to jump around non stop:  “Last year they made me go through the pandemic Mondays jumping around in my living room with their live streams. I can't wait to jump around to their music with a bunch of other people now! Hey hey hey hey! Opa!”

Then we reach up to none other but @Kate. She has shared with us that this August her headphones got stuck to some trendy melodies, she could not find ways to resist, but to just continue listening. The first tune came from a popular TikTok trend, while the second one was actually the background of David Guetta’s own YouTube channel (followed vigorously by Kate’s partner), where the producer shares his working processes. Kate has really fallen in love with the lyrics of one of her picks from last month, and that is why it is still on repeat for her this month.

Then we have @Ver, who started playing the video game Assassin’s Creed Origins a few weeks ago. She was then instantly captivated by the charming theme song of the franchise and so it became the theme song of her whole August: “...The whole song from start to end is just amazing."

@Alex, used the long summer days of August for biking and his secret motivation to help him pedal those last miles was always an energetic and highly danceable tune by N.o.h.a. Also if his tank of positive vibrations ever got depleted, he then filled it up using the magical tune Lancherito by Pixvae ✨

Kudos for reaching up to here folks! It’s been a long read so far, however I hope you’ve enjoyed it as much as I did! Last but not least, I too have been trying to focus hard and get in-line, as I’ve just joined the Community in the midst of August. This month I jammed mainly to some Lo-Fi beats, usually curated by Spotify and the Playlist’s Radio afterwards! This type of music is definitely not my regular binge, yet it grabs me effortlessly and really helps me concentrate in the heats season! Hope you’ll like it too!
