- In the cold days of November I've been longing for something
deeply philosophical. Something that can really get me thinking about life,

An interesting fact for the song "Beat It"
is that Steve Lukather of Toto plays the rhythm guitar parts of the song
and Eddie Van Halen of the rock band Van Halen plays the solo.

what have you been up to?
- I've been continuing some musical discoveries this month.
When in the mood to go wild and have a grand time, I binged through
the albums of Swedish death metal supergroup Bloodbath.
Basically an all-star band of friends, this is what happens
when already established and talented musicians come together to
celebrate their love of old-school death metal. And I love it too!

And when I was feeling more moody and introspective,

Skinny Puppy were the way to go. I spoke about them way back

on TikTok and on the radio and I really enjoyed it.
It's really calming to me, but pretty weird video clip,

Geto Boys need no introduction, and "Still" is among the finest examples
of what hip hop has to offer. The track is packed with unmatched aggression:
the guys all have their own unique flow and their
voices blend perfectly with the killer (pun intended) beat
which is simply impossible to resist bopping your head to.
Perhaps my all-time favorite hip hop track, "Still" definitely still
holds up even to this day. All my homies know that "Still" > "Still D.R.E".
I recently went to a Depeche Mode concert with my girlfriend,
who is a huge fan. I myself had previously caught a few of their more
popular tracks on the radio, so I wasn't all too familiar with
their music at the time, but I have to say that these guys put on one hell of a show
and I can confirm that they still got it!
There is something about their music that's just so infectious
and even their goofier tracks still managed to draw me in,
as I often find myself humming them. But the more "serious-sounding" ones
is where Depeche Mode's strength truly lies with:
"Precious", "Personal Jesus" and "Enjoy the Silence"
are all iconic works at this point, and I would also put "Wrong" up there,
as my new favorite which I first heard at the concert.
I've been pronouncing the word like Dave Gahan ever since I heard this song.

Gruzja is a bizarre beast and an experience that can best be described
as "uncanny". The vast amount of genres these guys take influences
from (including, but not limited to: punk, rock, electronic and black metal)
gives them boundless freedom to experiment and craft truly peculiar compositions.
It's almost impossible to categorize their music, as it doesn't seem
to really fit any genre in particular - sometimes it's more punk and aggressive,
other times is more black metal and misanthropic.
Each song is a unique alloy of disparate elements welded
together into this extraordinary composite that is as fun as it is weird.
And as if that wasn't enough, the vocals are handled by
four different people, each with their own distinct voice.
One thing is certain: these guys slap, and they slap really hard!
