I have two ChromeCast Audio's that i use in a 'Group' (synced) to play music in my two living rooms.
For now i have to either use my phone as proxy for the desktop application or the webplayer, which is both unsatisfactory solutions.
When will we have proper support for ChromeCast in the desktop client? (linux)

Hi @mote, at present, Chromecast support is not possible for desktop programs, as the Google Cast SDK is only available for Android, iOS and Google Chrome.

Actually, desktop is (unofficially) possible, see https://github.com/xat/castnow
It's a commandline program that can stream videos to chromecast without a browser, just the terminal - which is desktop based.
