My Question or Issue
In 'What's new', Podcasts and shows are showing as played or minutes listened to even though I have not started listening to.
Unfortunately I can't install Spotify app in my work computer, but I use web app to listen to podcasts and music while I work. Since yesterday I noticed, when accessing Spotify via web app only, some brand new episodes of podcasts I follow being marked as "Finished", even if I had never listened to them.
Accessing the same episode in my Android app, it's correctly exhibited as unplayed.
Hey @flribeiro,
Thank you for reaching out to the Community and welcome. We moved your post from the Chats section to one of the help boards as it fits better here.
Since it seems to be working fine on your Android device, it's possible that the issue could be device-related. Keep in mind that work computers are commonly managed by the company or an administrator that applies some restrictions to the computer that may affect the proper behavior of Spotify or other streaming services.
So in this case, would you mind checking on an incognito/private window to see if it makes any difference? If the issue persists, could you check on a different browser?
If the issue persists, and to confirm if it's device-related, would you mind checking on a different computer to see if it works properly? If you don't have another one available, you can borrow one from a friend or a family member to test it out.
Hope this helps. If anything else comes up, don't hesitate to ask.
Hi there @Jacob64! Hope you're having a great day! Welcome to the Spotify Community!
By any chance, have you shared your account credentials with any friends or family members who might be using your account to play these podcasts?
Also, can you check if the same podcasts are marked as played on other devices, like the Web Player or Desktop?
Keep me in the loop.
/Mateus
Hey Mateus,
Hope you're well.
I am the only user of this account and have not shared my credentials with anyone.
I have checked the web player and seems to be same issue occurring. However, I have the iOS app and looks fine. Please see screenshot for reference.
Thanks
Hi @OscarDC,
I've been using Spotify web on my work computer for a long time, and this problem has started since a few days ago.
I've tested in incognito window in two differente browsers in my work computer: same result, i.e., one episode I have never listened is bein shown as "finished".
And in my personal laptop, where I usually use the official app, the same problem occurs when I open Spotify via web browser.
I have the same problem.
On the web, podcasts appear as listened to.
In the app as well. I go to the settings in the app (for IOS) and uncheck that the podcasts are listened to, after a few hours they all appear listened to again and are deleted from my episode folder.
This has been happening for a few days now.
Hi folks,
Thanks for all the info!
We've reported this to our tech folks, so that they can have a closer look. We'll let you know as soon as we get an update regarding this.
Take care.
When marking a podcast episode as played in the What's New page, on desktop, the wrong episode is marked as "played."
Specifically, the correct episode will appear to be marked as "played," however when returning to the Waht's New page later, it will be completely unplayed and a different episode will be "played."
Attached: the podcast episode I tried marking as "played" and the one that ended up being marked.
