Operating System

Windows 10 version 2022H2 (up to date)

My Question or Issue

The setup that I have outputs audio to my display (ASUS TUF Gaming VG34VQL1B) that is connected to my Surface Book via a Microsoft Surface Book Docking Station.

How to reproduce:

1. Play music on Spotify.

2. Start a game that does not run on the screen's full resolution (I have tried Fallout 1, Fallout 2, Fallout Tactics, Heroes 3), that makes the screen flicker.

3. Notice how Spotify stops playing the audio, and gets into an unrecoverable error state, where the Play button indicates that audio plays, but no audio output is present.

I have confirmed that this problem is specific to Spotify, as:

A. Play music on YouTube.

B. Start a game that does not run on the screens' full resolution (I have tried Fallout 1, Fallout 2, Fallout Tactics, Heroes 3), that makes the screen flicker.

C. Notice how the output changes from the display to the integrated speakers, while the screen flickers, and as the game is shown, the audio output changes again, correctly, to the display.
