My Question or Issue
Windows shows multiple audio output from Spotify, usually 2 to 3, only one of them actually outputs audio. I find it annoying as I often use the sound mixer for all my applications.
I'll attach a picture from the game bar (Win+G) and the sound mixer.
Hey @Apollo-Roboto,
Thanks for reaching out.
We were able to reproduce the issue with the Game Bar, however, we don't observe the same behavior with the Volume Mixer. Is this only happening occasionally or every time you're using the app? Is it the same with both the Microsoft Store version and the one from our website? If not, send us the exact version of the affected one.
Cheers,
The fake one in the volume mixer isn't always there, I do not know what causes it to appear.
Here is the version of Spotify on my machine, I installed it from the Microsoft store
Spotify for Windows (64 bit)
1.2.45.454.gc16ec9f6
I did installed the version available on the web to test.
The new install has a different version:
Spotify for Windows (64 bit)
1.2.47.364.gf06e5cee
This version also has the duplicated Game Bar volume sliders, but I don't see the widget one in the volume mixer. If I find what makes it appear, I'll update this post.
I have this same issue and can't find a fix. It makes it so my volume controller doesn't work properly for Spotify and it's driving me insane.

My Question or Issue
I've had this problem for awhile now. No matter if I install Spotify via the web or via the Windows Store, I get two versions of Spotify in my windows volume mixer.
It doesn't show up in the default windows volume mixer but shows up in the game bar section that has a windows volume mixer extension.
I use a Stream Deck+ & a BEACN Mix and they both have this issue where they can't control Spotify volume correctly because it grabs the fake Spotify source and not the actual one.
Hey folks,
Apologies for the lack of updates while this was being investigated.
Can you please check again if you're still seeing the issue?
Cheers,
Yes, as of 10/17/24 at 5:02PM EST it still shows two Spotify sources in the volume mixer
I have the same problem, I use the stream deck and I use a dial for the volume, as soon as I move it to increase or decrease the volume this dial deactivates and turns gray and that is when (2-Spotify) appears on the stream deck.
Hi folks,
A new version of Spotify should be out now. Could you check if everything looks good on your end now?
Keep us posted 👍
Hi, I just updated Spotify to the latest version, but I'm still having the problem of seeing two Spotifys in the audio mixer. This also happens with Discord, and I researched a bit, and apparently, with Discord, it's because it has one sound for voice and another sound for notifications.
I don't see the duplicated slider on my side! I've updated from the exe available on the website, my version is 1.2.49.439.gfae492c7
Thank you for the update and the fixes!
edit: oh wait, never mind, I played a song and it instantly appeared
I've updated and I still have two Spotify's in my volume mixer

@awdawdwda2322333, would you mind sending us the exact Spotify version you're running on your device?
We'll be on the lookout!
Spotify for Windows (64 bit)
1.2.49.439.gfae492c7
There has been at least 1-2 updates since my last comment but still no fix, just bumping this thread to keep the topic relevant
I have the exact same problem, anyone find any fix?
Nah no fixes yet but I will keep bumping this thread until we get it resolved!
ehhhh, with version Spotify for Windows
1.2.51.345.gcc39d911 the app can't even find an internet looool , what is going on guys?!?!?!
Problem still exists with version 1.2.51.345.gcc39d911
It updated today and actually broke all audio routing me. I can set whatever soundcard i want as output and spotify totally ignores this and goes straight to the onboard realtek even though nothing is plugged in there.
It actually goes so far as crashing dante virtual soundcard and dante via to a point where the software soundcards are no longer visible in the system and i have to restart windows. Very bad on an audio workstation.
Happens on both standalone and ms store version
Same problem here, very annoying! Always have 2-3 Outputs in my volume mixer (web & microsoft store version)
Makes it nearly impossible to control volume via Streamdeck+
