"Go to song radio" not working on desktop

"Go to song radio" not working on desktop

Plan: Premium

Country: USA

Device: Dell laptop (but works on my iPhone)

Operating System: Windows 10 and now Windows 11

My Question or Issue:

When I click "Go to song radio" nothing happens. It used to work and still works on my phone but hasn't worked for months on my desktop Spotify.

Hey @wsbrower thanks for asking in the Community!

Could you try this with another song and from another playlist or album to see if it works?

You can also try a clean-install of the app to make sure everything's fresh and updated. For more info about the clean install please check this guide.

At the same time, check if you can go to song radio from the web player.

Keep me updated.

Just tried it with another song on a different playlist and that didn't work. Tried it on web player and that doesn't work either. I'll try reinstalling Spotify but if it's not working on web player either than it doesn't seem like that will solve it.

Hey @wsbrower,

Thanks for getting back to us.

If you're still having trouble after a clean reinstall, could you give it a try using a different account on your computer? We know you mentioned that it works on your phone with your account, but we just want to rule out any account/device related issue.

We'll be on the lookout.

Mine also doesn't work, tried reinstalling everything as well as trying to go to radio through different playlist. On desktop windows 10 it won't work, but on mobile it does.

Hey @sly_so,

Thanks for joining the conversation!

Just to make sure we cover all bases, do you notice any difference after changing the current setting for hardware acceleration in the desktop app? You can change it by heading over to Settings > scroll down to Compatibly > Enable hardware acceleration. Also, do you experience the same issue using the Web Player?

If the issue persists, it would be great if you could let us know the following details, so that we can have a closer look:

  • The make & model of your device.
  • Your current OS version.
  • Current Spotify version.

Let us know how it goes!

Spotify for Windows 10 (64 bit)
1.2.45.454.gc16ec9f6

I already had hardware acceleration on, didn't work with it on or off. Web browser doesn't work either.

Hey folks,

Thanks for the info!

Just to confirm, are you able to start artist or album radios, or are those affected too? Could you go to an artist/album > tap the three dots menu > Go to artist/album radio to see if it would work?

Keep us posted 🤘

Both broken, doesn't work just like the song radio. It just does absolutely nothing. When will this be fixed?

"Go to artist" and "Go to album" work for me. I tried turning "hardware acceleration" off and "Go to song radio" still doesn't work. I haven't tried a clean reinstall yet.

Hey folks,

Thank you for keeping in contact.

If the issue persists after the clean reinstall, we need to look into this further with the relevant team. In case you haven't sent it yet; let us know the following info:

- Your device info (make/model) and OS version

- Exact Spotify version

Also, and if possible; since we couldn't replicate the behavior on our side, could any of you record a short video where we can take a better look? You can attach it to your next response by using the Insert Video option in the post editor. You can also upload it to YouTube or Google Drive and share the link with us (make sure the video has the permissions for anyone to see it).

We'll be on the lookout.

Just adding to the conversation to let you know that I've been having this same problem on my laptop for months as well. Just got a new laptop and am using the browser and it still doesn't work. Clearly an issue with the app, not anything to do with the laptop since I've had the same problem on two.

happens to me too
im on
HP laptop
Processor 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM)**bleep** 2.42 GHz
Installed RAM 16.0 GB (15.8 GB usable)
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

and spotify version
Spotify for Windows (64 bit)
1.2.47.364.gf06e5cee

now even queues and playlists dont work

Hey folks,

Thanks for the info.

Have you tried using a different network (if possible) to see if the issue persists? You can create a mobile hotspot from your phone and connect your PC to it, for example.

Something else that comes to mind is flushing the DNS cache on your PC. You'll find a detailed guide on how to do that here. It's also worth editing the hosts file and removing any lines with "spotify" in the address. This article holds more info on the topic, check it out.

Keep us posted on this.

Yo!

so editing the hosts file did make radio work but queues still do not work

Yo!!

I flushed the dns and edited the hosts file and did a complete reinstall.
everything worked for a short when close and reopen the problems came back

Thanks for the update @OPPIUIOOI!

Could the rest of you folks also try this and let us know if editing the hosts file + flushing the DNS cache serves as a workaround? Does restarting the app cause the issue to return? If you haven't already, try performing a clean reinstall of Spotify - this is more thorough than a regular reinstall and will rule out any potential issues with corrupted cache.

@OPPIUIOOI, I'm not sure what the issue with the queue is, could you elaborate a bit more on that? A short screen recording which captures the app's behavior in action would be greatly appreciated.

We'll be on the lookout for your replies.

Take care 💚
