Artists Wanted : Share your Talent with the Community

Hey everyone!

As you are probably aware, at the heart of Spotify, and our Community, is Music: listening, curating, producing, and, of course, discussing it.

Because of this, some fellow Stars and members of the Community Staff (@Soundofus@Elena@AdamDam, @Jpgchief, @Sebasty, and myself), who enjoy being deeply involved in these activities, would like to keep celebrating artists. One project some of us are working on, is inviting you (Spotify's upcoming artists!) to share your newest releases and a bit about yourselves. We love to listen to the latest stuff!

How does it work?

  • We (the Music Team mentioned above) will post a thread (like this one) looking for submissions at the beginning of each month.
  • Artists participating have to be members of the Community and have a Spotify artist account.
  • Artists are welcome to post their songs and intros in a comment below (only one comment per band/artist please).

Questions artists should answer to participate:

  • Artist/Band name:
  • Where are you based:
  • Main genre of music:
  • Describe your sound/music in a few words:
  • Spotify link to one of your most recent songs which you'd submit in priority to the Community's users:
  • Link to Spotify profile:
  • One link to a social media of your choice:
  • Who are your musical inspirations:
  • Is there anything else you'd want to add to help users to get to know you better:

The Music Team will go through all submissions, and propose a few for the entire Community to vote on. Once the results are in, we'll contact the winner, and they will be featured in our Community blog!

Where to participate?

We'll hand it over to you, artists on the Spotify Community - post your answers to our questions in a comment below. Don't be shy, we'll be very glad to hear your tracks and read your replies!

P.S When it comes to choosing the winning artist we'll give equal chance to the finalists to gather votes from the forum's users, so don't get discouraged if you enter in your submission on a later point and don't gather too many likes in this thread.

Hi! I'm new around here, this seems like a decent place to jump in. I'll share my track Street Walking with you - it's a paranoid, uptempo electronic song with strong sax lead and ominous pitch shifted vocals.

I started this electronic rock solo project in October 2020 after playing in different rock and metal bands as a guitar player. Now I'm singing and also taking care of all instruments on my songs. My latest two songs "What It Feels Like" and "Where Nothing Matters" were mixed and mastered by Zardonic.

  • Is there anything else you'd want to add to help users to get to know you better: This is a collection of songs I have written over the past 15 years, with lots of help on vocals, guitar, etc by some of my best friends (I play keyboards and sound like Kermit the Frog when I try to sing).  Without their help this would be a poorly sung collection of rough tunes... hence the title of the album 'With a lot of Help From My Friends.'

  • Is there anything else you'd want to add to help users to get to know you better:
Started doing music in my early years with my Amiga 500 and expanded that with lessons in guitar playing. After I was finished with school I stopped doing music for some reason and started digging into movie making and script writing instead. Today I'm a father of two who is working at one of Sweden's largest TV-stations. The pandemic brought me back to my interest in music making, so my desk is work at day and music studio at night. So, i’m kinda like Batman… a little bit.

Hi Magnus. I really like your track. Nice job... . I'm probably a similar age as you (but live in Canada) and also took advantage of the pandemic to finish recording songs that I never really finished and enlisted help of friends to make them sound good (I am generally just a hobby musician). If you feel like listening to my pandemic album, I'm listed above you on this thread (but I'll dump a link to the full album here....)

  • Is there anything else you'd want to add to help users to get to know you better: Through our music we aim to bring greater attention to how much of the creative process truly is in fact in the hands of the artist. We hope to continue to bring a refreshing feel to the indie scene through pulling from a number of inspirations, all while keeping ourselves grounded in what truly makes our music organic. We've remained an independent group, maintaining all of the processes necessary to keep us afloat entirely on our own even as we've continued to grow through time. We're also set to release a couple more singles leading up to our debut album in early 2022!

Hello Skibitsky,

Thank you for check my track out!  Yeah, we have to try to see this from the bright side. Without the pandemic i may never have done this. 🙂

Hi everyone and thank you so so much for your participation in this project. It makes us very happy to receive so many great applications!

Keep them coming, we love listening to your tracks!

With this post I would also like to ask you to keep the comments under this post focused on the topic at hand - replying to the questions above to present your tracks to a wider audience.

We love friendly discussions and we encourage them as much as possible in the Music discussion areafeel more than welcome to start a thread in there with other off topic musical suggestions, as were hoping to keep this post as a place for submissions. This will allow us to have a less confusing and more streamlined thread.

As we already had a great post in this thread with a playlist containing songs that were submitted - we used it to start a new thread, where we encourage discussions and different musical suggestions as well. You can find it here!

 Thanks for respecting our request!

Musical Inspirations: Poolside, Bob Marley, Mano Negra, Disclosure, Paul Simon, Bomba Estereo, LCD Soundsystem, David Byrne, Calle 13, Daft Punk, Perez Prado, Gorillaz, Major Lazer, Flaming Lips, Manu Chao...

Anything Else:  We formed as a band in May 2019. By September of the same year, we had won a grant from the Canadian government to record a complete album, produced by Howard Redekkop (Tegan and Sara, Mother Mother, The New Pornographers).
Since the pandemic began, we started releasing singles from that production as an independent band.

A huge thanks to everyone who participated in this volume of the ''Artists wanted'' project. We loved all of your songs, but the rules are that we have to pick 3 qualifiers for the final voting. We had a tie in scores given from the Music team, so we present 4 artists that can win the chance to featured in a Blog here in the Community.

Congrats to @alfredoespanglish@skibitzky @Ardhammar @nelaique!
