[Desktop][Other] "Don't play this artist" on desktop

I would like the option to permanently dislike a featured artist like on mobile that I can choose for "Don't play this artist"

e.g for several weeks now various artists and gamechops have appeared in my release calendar. I have absolutely no interest in this band

But I dont have the option to remove the featured artist, which just means the following week a new artist pop ups with gamechops as featured and I have no way to prevent this.

I have event tried blocking gamechops on android but makes no difference

Hi everyone,

Great news! We're excited to announce that the feature is now also available on the desktop app and the Web Player 😎

If you don't want the app to play a specific artist, you can click the three dots menu of their artist page and select Don't play this artist. The next time a song of theirs comes up, it will automatically be skipped 👍

If you ever change your mind, you can undo the changes at any time by selecting Allow this artist to play instead.

We're setting the status to Not Right Now, as this isn't something we have any immediate plans to implement. When we do have any new info to share, rest assured we'll check back in here with a new status.

Take care.

Block the content creator is an existing feature on the mobile app. So my idea is to add the same button on the pc version, so we could block people without reaching phones. It would be really convenient!

The fact that I cannot block certain artists from appearing in my curated lists is maddening. I do not know why these artists appear on my lists. One example is Ninja **bleep** Party. I haven't listened to them, but my wife does. She has never used my account to listen to them, but perhaps Google Hub played via my account somehow? Either way, I don't care for their music. And there's no way to remove them.

It is nice to play via the Spotify desktop app because I am on my computer, working. I can see what songs are coming up, pause, and control the volume to my HEOS-enabled amp directly from my keyboard. Why would I use the Spotify mobile app for this? Waste of time. I'd have to pick up my phone, unlock it, open Spotify, and finally click pause or whatever.

How complicated can it be to implement this feature in the Electron app as it already exists in the mobile app...

I want to know why this feature request was **bleep**-canned and by whom. They clearly do not use Spotify daily.

Wait, if you can do it on mobile, and you're already implemented it, why wouldn't you implement it on Desktop? It's the same problem. Just filter out artists people say they don't want to hear from. You obviously can, because you already did it in mobile. So to say "we just don't feel like it right now" seem to be pretty cold-hearted, especially when you absolutely have the capability.

Blocking an artist should be an actual block. Why does the blocked artist music come up on my "release radar"? Or "new music"

I would ask the development team to please reconsider, because:

- This isn't a hard feature to implement, easier to just do it than kick the can down the road.

- Some of us do not use the mobile app AT ALL. I only listen to Spotify on my desktop and in my car (Android Automotive version)

- When an artist comes on that I can't stand, I have to stop what I am doing, run over to my desktop and skip the tune. As you can imagine, this becomes very irritating.

I thought to switch from Youtube music because I couldn't block artists I don't like.
It seems it doesn't make sense to buy Spotify premium

It's unbelievable that the Spotify team has spent so much time completely rebuilding the desktop app as a web app wrapper, to unify the platforms (mobile, web, desktop), and yet the platforms don't have feature parity. Truly mindblowing.

There's certain artists we don't want to hear any more.

Personally, after hearing what people like R Kelly, the lead singer of Lost Prophets and more recently Marilyn Manson have done, I don't want to give them a penny. I can remove their songs from my library, but they'll still pop up in playlists. There should be a boycott button where you can boycott an artist and choose to no longer hear them anywhere.
