[Discover] New Releases Section for Followed Artists

Please add a section to the desktop and mobile apps where we can see all of the new releases from the artists we follow. When artists release new music, their fans want a way to find it directly in Spotify without having to rely on social media or elsewhere away from the Spotify app. The Release Radar playlist by Spotify only shows some new releases and then it disappears a week later.

This new section would act as a "feed" and update automatically when a new album from an artist you follow is available on Spotify. Please make the feed have a high display limit so we can go back months and months and for sure won't miss any releases.

For a third party solution check out (PLEASE IMPLEMENT IT LIKE THIS)

The problem with the current "new releases" section is that it doesn't show new releases from artists you follow. It only show the most popular new releases. The only way right now to find new releases is to go to the artist's page and hunt around for the new release or use the Release Radar playlist.

The Release Radar playlist is not what we want. The problem with the Release Radar playlist is that it mixes in suggestions. I want to see followed artists ONLY. And if you check the playlist a week too late, all the songs are GONE.

We need a feed that we can scroll back months and months and months so we can see all the new releases from the artists we follow. We shouldn't have to rush through it and it be gone the next week.

Hey folks,

Thanks for coming to the Spotify Idea Exchange and voting to make this happen.

We're happy to announce that a new releases section for the artists you follow is now available on Desktop, iOS and Android mobile devices. You can find it on the desktop app by clicking the bell icon in the top right. On mobile, you can find it by tapping on your profile picture in the top left and going to the "What's new" section.

Once again, thanks for helping us make Spotify better, by participating here on the Community.

Thanks islandbeats for the application Crabhands. I use everyday http://www.spotifyradar.com but I think that it's nice to have multiple choices 🙂

Thanks, islandbeats, i'll check it out!

This is off topic man, please use your own idea thread to discuss your issue. This here is about followed artists only!

How hasn't this been implimented yet?! This would be the best update Spotify has ever done!

I see that on the "Home" page there is a new(? never noticed before) section called "New releases for you". Seems like a start- it will take some time to see if it does what it is supposted to do. Looks like a trunkated version of the "Discover" tab from "Browse".

Some of the "artists you love" are still questionable. Just because I listen to that artist a few times does not = love. Artists I follow would be a better metric. Like, listening to Lana Del Rey a few times (to see what all the fuss is about) doesn't really warrent putting the Charlie's Angels single on this list.

Baby steps I suppose.

Not really.

Hi everyone, we've recently reviewed this idea and will keep its status as is for now.

For clarity's sake, here's the relevant section from our previous status update:

"..our teams feel this is currently fulfilled by our Release Radar playlistWith Release Radar, we’re giving you a weekly selection of the newest releases that matter most to you in one convenient playlist. You’ll get all of your new favorite music, without any of the effort that goes into searching for the latest gems."

Nope.

Still wrong spotify.

Release radar sucks and is an arbitrary pick for new / less new releases.

Not at all the feature requested here.

I encourage everyone to use mobile app such as Crabhands (i am NOT the dev of this app) to get real feed and notifications of new releases instead of this bs release radar as this is the real feed sorted by date of followed artists releases, as spotify is not able to provide it (or re-provide it as it existed before).

This is not good enough... its a real mess trying to discover new albums
from new singles on release radar... and even trying to discover what is
new regardless if you follow a specific arctic is impossible... i have to
go to other sites like Amazon, HMV to see what is new and upcoming... for
the money i spend on your service it should be better.

There is no where to find new releases of albums even from people that you
don't follow... Why can we have a generic list of albums that are
released each week?

And singles that are released each week?
