[All Platforms] Customize Start Screen

This is not a new idea, but I haven't found any practical reply to it, so I think it needs to be repeated. I completely agree with Rennestein (screen capture below), we need to stop seeing irrelevant suggestions because it is annoying. Why can't it be possible to decide what we first see when we open Spotify on any device? (playlists, recently played, artists we're following, etc), and enjoy better our Spotify experience?
Please Spotify, let us have the home screen as we'd like. :)) Thank you!

Hey folks,

We appreciate you sharing your feedback on the Community and showing your support to this idea.

We're setting this idea to 'Not Right Now', as this isn't something we have any immediate plans to implement. If we do have any new info to share, rest assured we'll check back in here with a new status.

Update from the 23rd of Feb 2023:

A new feature was recently introduced in the mobile app which you may find interesting as it allows users to remove content recommendations from the subfeeds (Music and Podcasts & Shows) of their Home screen, thus expanding upon the current customization options and offering a improved, more personalized experience. You can find more info about it in the Status update here.

Thanks.

The layout has slightly changed for me, to be almost less obnoxious as the suggested stuff is a bit lower down, but still not a fix.

Need this very much! We being the users have no control on what is being shown to us. We are simply bombarded with recommendations without our own consent and without an option to not see it. (Advertisement on steroids!)

It's amazing that there's not even a simple downvote or hide button, and on top of that you can't control suggestions at all. Spotify, what the actual **bleep** are you doing? Someone should log into your account, start listening to podcasts you don't like and then you can feel what we feel every time we open Spotify.

Oh you don’t have to actually listen to any podcasts in order for Spotify to spam you with them. I’ve never listened to a podcast in my life but every time I start my car I’m greeted by one titled “Gay Erotica” in my first row of suggestions. Guess I can’t have my mom, boss, or anyone else really in my car. **bleep**in Spotify.

I highly doubt that.

The community will sooner than Spotify itself, who'll just say they'll ignore it as usual.

This is annoying. I looked for an artist earlier, I accidentally ended up on some 'podcast' channel with erotic content (just seems like smu t that doesn't belong on Spotify in the first place, but whatever), and now it's sticking to my homescreen for all eternity. Everytime I open up Spotify, anyone behind me can see that stuff. I have to be careful to even use Spotify at work now.

Removing individual items wouldn't even have to be the solution, I'd rather see the app not showing any podcasts at all, or otherwise just music there too.

This feature still needs to be added!

Shoving toxic content down your throat is not a very customer friendly approach.

Ive been paying for premium for quite a while now and dont understand the lack of customization.

Please consider protecting the mental health of your customers Spotify.

Its irresponsible of your service to not implement ways for your paying customers to hide content that may be extremely dangerous to their mental health.

Hellooooooooooooooooooo anyone theeeeeeeeeeeere.

Do you have employeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees?

Hellooooooooooooooooooooooo~

I also find it kind of weird how Spotify recommends podcasts regarding things... I may have watched on youtube once? Or maybe scrolled by on a site? It's creepy as heck considering I don't link accounts and I block trackers. Will definitely keep an eye on my queries...Not sure if I'm being Baader-Meinhof'd here. This does not happen with music at all!

It looks like this has been a problem since 2019. Do you really think Spotify is ever going to work on this?
