[Community][Connect] JAMAICAN CHARTS

Despite having our own unique music industry with artists from across the island being huge overseas, Jamaica was deprived of this streaming platform for several years. it wasn't until February of 2021 that we finally got access to Spotify alongside other Caribbean/African nations.

Now that we have Spotify (which is great for the visibility of Jamaicans and our artists world-wide), we now feel that we need some charts to truly showcase the popularity of artists and songs within our nation. This includes a Hot Hits chart,  Viral 50, Top Songs Weekly and a Daily Top 50. Jamaican artists deserve to see how popular they are within their own nation and Jamaican fans deserve to see how their favorite international musicians fare in their own island.

We hope that our idea finds the Spotify team well.

I stand in agreement with the original poster. You do this for every other country why not the local Jamaican artist.

I can't even understand why we have to go over this hurdle. Shouldn't this be a basic feature for all countries Sporify is in. I did not have to do this for Apple Music or Deezer. Clearly Apple and Deezer understand what their paid subscribers want and do not discriminate. I cannot recall if Tidal offers this since I cancelled my subscription. I had cancelled Apple but resubscibed because they have this advantage over Spotify. Is Spotify underestimating how invested Jamaicans are? Frankly if Spotify fails to provide this very basic feature, isn't it best to simply stay with Apple and Deezer? This is such a HUGE turnoff.

The Jamaican charts which should include the distinction between Reggae and Dancehall which is a sub-genres of Reggae is very important. Jamaica has so many influences on the music we know today.  Genres such as Reggaeton, Bhangra, Afrobeat, Hip Hop, Kwaito, have all been influenced by Jamaican culture is some way or another which is important to note. Spotify has a unique opportunity to change the game within the Caribbean region which it now operates.

I absolutely agree that there should be a Jamaican chart. It is ridiculous this has to be requested. Also I would vote for it but the option to do so is greyed out and I can't click it.

I VOTE FOR THIS IDEA 👌🏾🇯🇲

It makes sense when charts are used in other countries.
