Smart shuffle is a fun way to discover new songs, but it comes at a cost. Want to reshuffle your queue? Bam, wait a few seconds longer. Want to unshuffle your playlist? Bam, no longer works, and goes to a completely random place in the playlist.

To me this is an unwanted complication, and I'd much rather be able to choose in the settings menu whether I want to enable the Smart Shuffle feature, or disable it.

Simple as that, or make it for free users too. I will not ever want to actually use smart shuffle.

This really just sends me over the edge. The desktop app never even works properly anymore. Ten years later and I'm still constantly annoyed by every change Spotify makes.

I really dislike Smart Shuffle and I have no interest in using it. Even more, I dislike that it.is being applied even after I disable it.

In a similar vein, I am not a fan of the app loading up recommended artists/albums, that I have never searched for, listened to, instead of the default home screen.

Smart shuffle is an awful feature for me. I have curated playlists for my kids and often we forget to cycle through shuffle to turn it off. Then my kids get songs I didn't add to the playlist as well as explicit songs I'd prefer they didn't listen to. Not to mention it ruins the whole point of curating playlists with specific songs. There needs to be a way to turn it off completely at the app level in settings.

here we go again you guys keep changing things on the app that does NOT NEED TO BE CHANGED. WHEN I PRESS SHUFFLE THAT DOES NOT MEAN I WANT SMART SHUFFLE. YOU GUYS CHANGED IT SO THAT NOW WHEN YOU PRESS SHUFFLE IT ALWAYS ADDS SMART SHUFFLE FIRST. NO BODY WANTS THAT FIX IT ASAP OR IM DONE PAYING PREMIUM MEMBERSHIP THAT YOU GUYS HAVE JACKED UP THE PRICE OF.

I will try to elaborate a little more on why the smart shuffle is not removed, and why your normal shuffle might not be totally random as well.

Spotify do not pay a fixed price to the artists - now, connect the dots...

This is especially bad while I'm driving with Android Auto. It is very slow to turn off and then I have to look down to see if It finally changed so I can turn back on regular shuffle.

Adding a comment to hopefully get this suggestion back on the front page for a bit.  This feature absolutely needs to happen and I can not understand what the delay is.  Coding isn't that difficult.  It would take one guy 1 hour to add this toggle.

Users should have the option to disable smart shuffle altogether (turning the shuffle button back into an on/off toggle instead of being smart/on/off).

It just adds a nuisance (an extra click EVERY time I want to shuffle adds up) and it's not good. It never recommends similar songs, only songs by similar artists, and more importantly: I just don't want it, I don't like it, it's just another annoying lazy AI feature that I don't want and wouldn't want even if it DID work well. I'm sure some people love it, but it would sure be great to be able to turn it off permanently and not have to cycle through it every single time I want to shuffle a playlist

• I’ve been paying premium for 5+ years definitely more cause I’ve used since before high school and i graduated in 2019. This smart shuffle being an extra option pisses me off, and the fact yall keep raising prices but don’t make the service better in return is sickening. There’s also an issue that makes Spotify clunky specifically because of smart shuffle. When you set a genre selection in liked songs, if smart shuffle is on and you turn it off, it removes the genre filter from the queue, even though it still says it’s on, it will start playing pop and rock when I clicked country, or piano without lyrics when I chose rap. Please stop being kno heads and give us a way to permanently disable the feature from settings. In the past few months my premium plan for student was deleted by Spotify not me, and could no longer find the plan on the website so now instead of paying $4.99 I’m paying like $12.99 so If yall need my money so bad fix the app so it’s not always broken in some way or another.
