Smart Shuffle keeps turning itself on

Hey folks!

Some of you have reported that Smart Shuffle is automatically turning itself on again after being switched off. This is now being looked into.

Note: The smart shuffle feature works on a playlist-by-playlist basis. If you turn it off on one playlist, it doesn't mean that it is turned off for all playlists.

2021 they introduced Smart shuffle. Its still broken. 

1. It turns on/off as it pleases

2. it shuffles the same stuff over and over. 

3. Even if I turn it on (I actually like it on occasion) it dont turn on. 

4. Even if I turn it off it dont turn off. 

5. Any of the above can happen randomly. 

I mean come on. Its 2024 now.. you got AI to help you code this garbage now. Fix it. 

To be fair I got to add I actually enjoy the Smart Shuffle when it actually works which sadly is not reliable. 

Ps, you can also fix the issue of not being able to share playlists with 2k + songs.

#metoo  - Have issues with what appears to be Smart Shuffle turning on randomly. However, due to lag in the UI/UX, I sometimes suspect:

1. I might have accidentally tapped it and it didn't show up as "on" until later, after putting phone in pocket.

2. I tried to turn on Shuffle, but was already on but not displaying in the UI, thus switching to Smart Shuffle unwantedly.

Happens multiple times per week.

Same problem trying to turn it off (is it off? How long do I stop and stare at the Spotify UX to decide?. This happens on my new Samsung S23U (no lag on anything else) and various DAPs. This feature is the WORST EVAR on small displays like old DAPs and cheap phones (used as remotes).

There are rare times I do want to use Smart Shuffle, on SPECIFIC playlists for Discovery. The other 99% of the time I never ever want this feature to turn on, and I'd settle with permanently disabling it if provided the option.

There is absolutely nothing worse than turning on an ADHD/neuro-divergent friendly instrumental playlist, having "Smart Shuffle" turn on and being blown out of my blissful productive ikigai focused flow by some random awful jarring music that Smart Shuffle decided to cram into my playlist. I stopped using Spotify on my best DAP, and drastically reduced overall use in favor of purchased music and playlist control.

If you are a Spotify PM, you should be able to measure significantly decreased use of Spotify across our entire family now, and it's almost entirely due to this feature. (entire family dislikes it)

In my desktop app I only have one shuffle setting now and it is the smart shuffle. It's driving me insane. I hate this feature so much. Can you please just remove it and bring back enhanced playlist button?!

So almost every time start playing music it "smart shuffels" although it is not on in any of my playlists. Switching it on and off agian makes no difference. Only when I actually choos a trak it starts playing it in order. It is massively irritating. I want to listen to it like I want, not like the app thinks I want to.

Now I don't have smart shuffle at all, which is excellent.

But now the regular shuffle is disabling itself constantly during a listening session in a playlist. And worse, when I was listening to GNX, the shuffle was looping through the same three songs constantly instead of shuffling through the whole album. 

How the **bleep** are your developers failing to maintain basic functionality of a music player? This is getting absolutely ridiculous.

I am listening to play lists and want to use the shuffle feature however smart shuffle continues to default AND I cannot just get shuffle. I have closed the app and rebooted my phone. It continues to only allow play in order or smart shuffle.

I sometimes use Smart Shuffle to find new songs similar to the playlist I listen to. However, it does not always play the genre of the playlist, and if it does, it plays things I already know and have removed from the playlist.

Recently, however, there seems to be an issue with it. If I accidentally turn it on on the Android app, I have to fight with it to turn it off as it keeps switching back on and playing the same "shuffled" songs.

And if I actually want to use it, it shows the new songs in the queue for a split second and then just acts like its not switched on which is very annoying.

Another major issue I have is the random algorithm for the shuffle in general. It's terrible and predictable, and it seems to have different algorithms for different devices.

This problem happened to me and because I don’t have premium I can’t turn smart shuffle off so I am just stuck with a useless app that can’t even play the songs I want it to play.
