I'm using Spotify in my car (Renault Mégane E-Tech running Android Automotive, not Android Auto!) and the native app doesn't have the ability to go forward or backward 15 sec.
To be more precise, I can tap on the 3 dots, then these controls appear but there are greyed out!
This is extremely annoying while listening to podcast because I cannot skip part I don't want to listen to, I have to use the scrolling bar which is imprecise.
Can we have that feature please?
Hey @tbouron,
Thanks for posting in the Community!
Did you notice when this started happening and was the app looking different before? Are the buttons greyed out also when you're playing tracks?
If you're able to see the buttons after clicking on the three dots, we recommend making sure you're using the newest available Spotify-version, as well as to check for any pending OS updates for Android Automotive.
Keep us posted 🙂
Hi, thanks for the reply.
Interesting, classic tracks do not show the overflow menu nor the go forward/backward 15 sec (see pictures)
I'm currently running version 4.4.1.0 from February 21st 2024. I've checked for updates multiple times but it seems this is the latest available to me.
And yes, the buttons on podcast were working last year and were displayed without tapping on the overflow menu.
However, I'm not sure when this regression was introduced.
Hye @tbouron,
Thank you for keeping in contact.
To continue investigating this issue, would you mind checking if this is happening with all podcasts you tried or just one?
Also, could you confirm if you're using the Connect feature to play the podcast on your car or if you're playing it directly from the Spotify app of your car stereo?
We'll be on the lookout.
Hi @OscarDC
This behaviour happens for all podcasts. I'm always playing them directly from the app installed on the car.
Might be worth mentioning that the data is provided by my phone that acts as a mobile hotspot so the connect feature is enabled but I don't use it.
Hey @tbouron,
Thanks for the info you kindly sent us.
Apologies for the late reply. Just to confirm, are you able to change podcast episodes with the buttons you find on your steering wheel? It'd be awesome if you could check.
Likewise, is it possible to fast-forward a podcast episode with the aforementioned steering wheel buttons? This will help us to understand this behavior further.
We'll be on the lookout!
Hi.
Yes, I can change the podcast episode by using the steering wheel buttons but I cannot fast forward however.
Hey @tbouron,
Thanks for getting back to us.
We appreciate your help in investigating this issue. Your report has been noted, however, we can't give you an ETA for a fix. In the meantime, just make sure to keep your app up to date.
We're here for you if there's anything else you wish to address.
Hello,
I’d like to upvote this issue. In the Audi Q6 with AAOS (Spotify version 4.4.1), there is a dashboard where the map is displayed alongside Spotify. In this setup, there are three buttons:
Previous
Pause/Play
Next
While listening to podcasts, the Previous and Next buttons are not functional for skipping within the content and in reality not usefull at all. It would be much more useful if these buttons were configured to skip forward/backward by 15 or 30 seconds instead.
On Spotify used with Android Auto, this functionality is already implemented. Please consider fixing it to align the user experience with Android Auto.
