My Question or Issue

I bought an audiobook on a free plan but it will not play without premium. The charge went through and I listened to a few hours last night but this morning it has stopped working despite my purchase. I attempted logging in and out a few times.

Hey there @Lily77777888,

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.

This is indeed odd behavior. Since you mentioned the audiobook stopped working, would you mind adding some further details? Does it appear locked or are you unable to locate it within your library? Please send us as many details as possible.

Kudos for trying to log out and in several times in a row. We think you can perform a clean reinstall of the app on your phone as a next step. By doing that, the app can be up-to-date, and you can make sure the stored cache is not leading to the audiobook not working. You can follow these steps to do it.

If the above doesn't do the trick, then we'd like to gather some additional info. Please send us:

  • Does this happen across all devices, even in the web player?
  • The exact Spotify version you're running there.
  • A screenshot of what you see on your side.
Note: Be aware this is a public space, so please don't share any personal info in the screenshot you'll send us.

Keep us in the loop!

I can locate the audiobook in my library it is just every time I press play a message comes up saying that I discovered a premium feature.

I followed the steps to completely delete and then re-download Spotify but the issue persists.

This occurs on the app and web player however the only device I use Spotify for is my personal phone. The version I am using is 8.9.98.488.

Hey @Lily77777888,

Thanks for reaching out!

Does this happen to this Audiobook only or to other Library items as well? If you're using any VPN services, try disabling them or creating an exception for Spotify.

Let us know how it goes! 🙂

I have just checked and it seems that this is occurring with all of the items in my library on the app. If I search up artists in the app and then play them it gives the message the tracks on this release are not available.

I just tried on web player and it works now for the audiobook and my favourite artists. It seems to be only a app problem now however when this issue first occurred it was on both so something must have been fixed. Lastly the library only seems to work on the app.

Also I do not use a VPN.
