Music plays, but no sound and songs skip after 10 seconds on Apple TV and Yamaha receiver

On both my Apple TV and Yamaha receiver, Spotify appears to connect and songs start playing, but no sound comes out. Then, after about 10 seconds, the song will skip to the next and then this repeats. Have reinstalled Apple TV app, and Spotify plays fine on other devices on same Wi-Fi network/router.

I can confirm this is still happening - my Spotify app no longer works properly on my Samsung TV, although it was sort of working in December 2023.  I've tried rebooting the wifi, my TV, deleting and reinstalling the Spotify, and reauthenticating multiple times.  There's no sound bar or external speakers - the sound should come out through the TV speakers, which is what happens for everything else on my TV.  I've also confirmed that I can connect to other external devices like my Echo.

As with the other users in the thread, I was having the same issue. The only fix that seems to work for me is to unplug the AppleTV (4k) for 10 seconds for full power cycle, then restart the AppleTV and then Spotify works as expected.

same problem here on my Sony Tv. It plays only the first 10 sec without sound and then skips to next with same results.

No problem on Windows laptop and iPhone.

Already reinstalled the app on TV several times, even with deleting app the data and powering TV off before reinstalling.

I have no problem streaming Netflix on the same TV. The TV is connected to internet with cable.

 

I even restarted my modem.

 

What else can I do?

Ok, problem solved!

Here is what worked for me:

I did everything all others said, restarting the modem, uninstalling the app, deleting the app data, powering off TV …. But each time I tested the app by trying the app on tv directly.

And that didn’t do the job.

 

Then, I opened Spotify on my iPhone, turn on the offline mode and back off again, played with the crossfader and then played a song on the iPhone and then choose my TV to take over and play further. And it worked. Then I tried again directly on the TV and it was solved.

 

Same issue here on Samsung S90C TV. Already tried everything, nothing helps and pretty sure it is something with Spotify source code as everything else works perfectly.

I keep getting the Spotify "Welcome" message on the top right, sounds keep skipping to the next ones after playing a few seconds without any sound going out.

I'm sharing this here because I'm having similar symptoms.

I am a Japanese user.
I use Amazon Echo to play music via Spotify Connect on my PC/iphone or via Alexa Skill.
I am having a problem with a very similar symptom to this issue starting today

In my case
Open the Spotify application on PC/iphone.
Press the device connection icon
Select AmazonEcho which is connected to the same network as my PC/iphone.
When I play the appropriate music, the seek bar looks like it is playing but no sound is heard and it skips to the next song after 10 seconds.

Same problem here with Marantz CR-612. When streaming form iphone or ipad, there is no sound and after 10 secs the Spotify app skips to next song… and next. 

So it does NOT sound like you are having this issue with an Apple TV box right? For me, my issue was the Apple TV unit and once I did a hard reset (10 seconds of being unplugged) the issue went away and has not returned. If you are streaming directly from your iPhone or iPad, then it's a different issue from what I was able to resolve. Best of luck in your quest.

Thanks man. Yes, streaming directly from Iphone and Ipad. Same issue with both devices. Just got this new Marantz receiver a month ago. First, it worked like a charm. Then this bug took over. I will try resetting all, let’s see..

Reset by unpluging the receiver for 15secs resolved the problem.

This is a recurring problem and it is because of a privacy setting in android TV software, regarding the anonymizing ( bt creating random ones)of MAC addresses. Just disable that and everything works as intended.

Same issue on fire stick. 

Exact same symptoms on my Sony Bravia VH2. Final solution: Unplugging my modem for 5 seconds and reconnect fixed the issue!

I can still encouter this issue hopefully you have a fix for this the app is unusable 😕

This is happening to me every single day. the only thing that fixes it is a restart of the Apple TV. Any suggestions on things to try?

A simple restart won’t completely solve the problem. Unplug the Apple TV
from its power source for at least 10 seconds and force a full power reset.
