Spotify app gets stuck when opened. Then eventually starts, but working super slow. Super slow interface and troubles playing. I am having this issue for one year or so, by now.
It works normal in Mac computer, and the other members of the plan don't report any problems.
I have already tried to uninstall, delete cache and data, force stop, restart the phone, reinstall. Nothing works.
Solved! Go to Solution.
This worked for me:
If you have an SD card on your device, try these steps to refresh the app’s connection with it:
Hi there @oliviaguerra,
Thanks for reaching out about this in the Community!
Sorry to hear that you're having such issues with the performance of the app.
Can you let us know how many items you have in your Library - playlists, albums, Liked Songs etc.? On some devices very large libraries, containing 10,000 + playlists and songs, can slow the app significantly.
In order to test is this is an account or device related issue, it's a good idea to ask a family member to log in with their account on your phone and test if the app functions properly for them. Alternatively, you can make a free account for test purposes.
Keep us posted on how you get on.
Hi there @oliviaguerra,
Thanks for the reply.
It's possible that there could be some sort of battery saver/ performance optimization enabled for the Spotify app from your phone settings. Go to your phone's app settings and locate the Spotify app:
If none of that helps, you can try using Spotify Lite. It's a lighter version of the app that lacks some features, but it's specially designed for older phones.
Hope this helps 🙂
I have the same issue! My phone is also a Motorolla
Hi! I can't remember where and who gave me the solution, but I remember it had something to do with the SD card. I believe there was some app install info in the SD card and that was creating some problem. Try to uninstall Spotify and take off the SD card before you install it again.
I found it. It was a reply from Customer Support:
"Since you have an SD card on your device, let’s try these steps to refresh the app’s connection with it:
I'm having the same problem, it's been like a month now or something. It also loads for such a long time when it switches songs. And that's with my downloaded songs, so there shouldn't be any buffering. Spotify has truly become unenjoyable. Or it takes so long to simply access the 3 button menu when I'm listening to a song to add it to the queue or just set a sleep timer.
Using Android
Same with me, it's now a horrible experience to use the app and I've tried everything - deleted all downloads, reinstalled the app, cleared the cache. Nothing changes. Seriously considering giving up my account if this doesn't improve because it's just unusable now
I have the same issue on two different phones, both in a duo plan.
The contents don't get loaded, songs doesn't start or take a long time to start, and when playing cannot be stopped...
I've cleaned the cache, the data, reinstalled, nothing worked.
Alex
i tried your solution and its still the same
any other methods? mann i need my music
Hello @nubeppane,
Thanks for reaching out to the Community.
Have you tried any of the steps provided by the other mods? Let us know what troubleshooting you've done so far so we don't repeat ourselves and we'd be happy to look further into this.
Keep us posted.
tried everything and its still the same. and some songs that i know have lyrics dont even load anymore
i already tried the cache thing, sd card removal, uninstall reinstall, allow all permissions, everything
Thanks for the response @nubeppane.
Have you tried with a different internet connection? If you're using mobile data, let us know how the app loads with Wifi if it's possible and if you're seeing any error messages or simply that it's just loading.
When it comes to the SD-card, make sure you've performed the clean reinstall after you've physically removed the card from your phone and then test without it.
If the same behavior persists, send us the device this is happening on and its OS version.
We'll be on the lookout 🙂
I was having this same problem but I found a solution. I downloaded the Playlist I listen to so I don't have to use my data, but that was slowing down my spotify. I removed my downloads and it completely fixed my spotify.
The issue hasn't been fixed for me. I have tried everything from this thread, I don't have an SD Card. Both downloaded and not downloaded playlists are affected. I reduced the download quality to a minimum, still issues. On WiFi and on mobile, issues.
Hey @5A,
Is the decreased app response speed only present on the Spotify app?
If not - make sure at least a few Gigabytes of free storage are available on the device.
If you've also gone over the steps, mentioned by @Ivelina, let us know the requested details as well:
We'd like to know what your device is, alongside its OS version and your Spotify app version.
Much appreciated! We'll be on the lookout for your reply.
