Redeem gift cards but dont use

My Question or Issue

I was bought a number of Spotify giftcards last year and they say they expire after 12 months. I was not ready to use them as I have another 4 months of another music subscription left to run. 

I thought I would load them on to my account so I didn't loose them but when I did that it started my premium subscription straight away. Is there any way to load these cards on to Spotify but not have them used up? Ideally I would like to have them used in 3-4 month time (which would be over 12 months since they were bought). Do I have any option other than using or losing them?

Unfortunately, no. Once a card is activated on your account it will count towards the next payment until the balance is used. If the cards are going to expire soon, I would recommend you go ahead and load them so at least you won't lose any pre-paid time.
