shuffle playlist seems to play the same songs

Whenever i'm in the car, i turn on android auto and play a playlist that's already on shuffle, but on the way home i hear the same songs. I have 809 songs in the playlist, i don't think in a 15 minute drive i should be hearing the same sequence of songs.

I'm genuinely looking to leave Spotify because of how annoying this issue is. What is the point of this service if it's just going to play the same 15 songs (sometimes in the same exact order!)

I have songs in my playlist which I've almost never heard, and others I've ONLY heard.

I literally on the verge of cancelling my subscription and deleting Spotify. It’s so annoying that Spotify keeps playing the same damn songs and prioritises songs I have heard previously. Jez it can just as well buy the damn music if all I am going to hear is the same damn stuff. I want variety. 
Screw it, I’m getting rid of this app and it’s crappy algorithm.

This is still an issue a year later. Out of 100 songs or more i dont want o hear the same 10 songs multiple times a day. Some that I loved I have now deleted because they are over played. I see from this and other sites other people do not like this feature either. Make it stop, please. 

I also don't see the point of spotify making a mixed Playlist from my mixed playlist, find other songs and artists that match my style. Don't just replay mine.

on my Spotify account, I have a playlist that plays the same songs in the same order. I shouldn’t have to pay for premium to not hear the same 30 songs. I have way more than 30 songs and I think that Spotify should fix that. I have been listening to the same songs in the same order for days and i’m getting tired of it.

This has been going on for a while and I haven’t been able to fix it. The same songs are playing in the same order on certain playlists including Spotify made ones. It’s not that j listen to them a lot because I don’t and the songs aren’t on any other playlists either

If I shuffle it should shuffle everything in my library.  I wouldn’t have songs in my library if I never wanted to hear them!  Please stop trying to use algorithms and just shuffle the damn library!

This is especially noticeable on Android Auto, but whenever I connect again or play on shuffle again, it seems to pick up the same order of songs from the previous few times to play, so I'll be hearing the same 20 songs over and over despite the playlist having hundreds. Please randomize your seed for shuffling on a more frequent basis or implement a user control to randomize it on demand.

this is so stupid and i will be stopping my subscription. also when i switch from my laptop to my phone or close and open the app it starts from like 30 songs ago i wish i could complain more cos i pay for this AND ITS UNACCEPTABLE

I think it is utterly ridiculous how I can only listen to a song 20 times until it plays an absolutely random song not related to it, and premium people can listen to the song unlimited times, do we live in a dictatorship? Trying to make premium users feel better, greedy company. I’m going back to Apple Music if they don’t do something

I have several playlists and I like to listen to them on shuffle however, when I do that, it only plays the same block of songs repeatedly, skipping others.  I can listen to a playlist on shuffle today, come back tomorrow and pick a song to start on in the same playlist and choose shuffle and it plays many of the same songs I heard yesterday from shuffling the same playlist.  One playlist has 440 songs and the other has 291 songs and both of them do the same thing.  

It sucks when having a party that the same songs we heard a few hours ago are being repeated but so many others were never played.  What is the point of having shuffle if it's not going to truly SHUFFLE?

Yup faced the same thing, now I just decided to turn off the shuffle cause the whole point of it in the first place is to shuffle the play list a bit and have a lil spice with the tracks that you have set up and having it reply a song 5x when the list is over 60 tracks is quite frustrating to be honest. I'm glad I wasn't imagining things.

The shuffle on my liked songs (downloaded to my phone), which consists of 10k songs, keeps playing the same songs. I was listening on my headphones and heard a certain set of songs. Then I stopped listening, closed the app, and later got in my car and it played the songs again, which I skipped until I got to a new one. I then stopped listening, closed the app, and later put my headphones in, and IT PLAYED THE SAME SONGS AGAIN.

Why is it doing this.

EDIT: Spotify, the thread you merged my request with is TWO YEARS OLD. Why have you not fixed this. What am I paying for?

Spotify plays the same songs over and over again even if the mix is on. For example, I turn the mixed playing, song A played, then B, C, D go on. After a few hours, I play mixed again, this time Spotify starts with song X, then B, C, D as before. It almost never plays the songs I recently added. This makes me go crazy. Why is this happening?

The song order just won't change, doesn't matter if I use Smart Shuffle, normal Shuffle, I logged out and back in, cleared Cache, reinstalled Spotify.
Doesn't matter which song I start playing, the order still remains the same.

The random machine playback function is too poor, and there are many repeated songs. So disappointed. I hope to hear the artist’s cover songs. Because of these two points, I am considering switching to other music platforms...

Just add a random option that never plays the same song until it has cycled through the entire playlist. Please do this... The current behavior is making me think of going to apple music instead.
