My Question or Issue

Since a few iphone app versions, the iphone app refuses to connect to a chromecast speaker group. It does connect to the individual chromecasts. The groups are shown in the list, but when selected, it just starts trying to connect and keeps on doing that without success.

The desktop app does not have any problems whatsoever, and after the connection has been made, all group speakers can be controlled using the iPhone app as well.

Hey @jowst,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community and welcome.

Keep in mind that the Multi-room feature is a function of your Chromecast and not of the Spotify app. However, there's a couple of things we can try.

First, since the feature works well with the desktop app, it could be an issue related directly to your device. In this case, we'd first recommend performing a clean reinstall of the app by following the steps in this article. This is often an overlooked step, but it's more thorough than a quick one and can be helpful in getting rid of any cache that might be causing trouble.

Also, if the issue persists, would you mind checking if the multi-room function is working with other streaming apps and if the issue is just with Spotify?

Lastly, since the Chromecasts and the Google Home/Nest speakers must be on the same Wi-Fi network, we'd recommend rebooting your Wi-Fi connection or testing it with a mobile data hotspot to see if it makes any difference.

Hope this helps. If you have any additional questions, don't hesitate to ask.
