I suggest that everyone stay away from iOS 6 beta 4 if you want to listen to music in high quality.
I have also noticed AirPlay and Bluetooth playback issues as well. (glitching)
This is not limited to the Spotify iOS app.
I have gotten word from other people and it looks like 3rd party audio apps not made by Apple are having problems with audio.
This results in very bad audio. Audio still plays, but is at a very low quality despite what quality you choose is the settings.
Some people might not notice, but there is quite a difference.
If you go back to 5.1.1 or iOS 6 beta 3, the sound is back to normal.
Hopefully Apple will fix this in the next iOS 6 beta.
UPDATE:
This bug has been fixed in iOS 6 final release!
I don't have iOS 6 beta 4 to compare, but it sounds normal.
YAY! 😃
Solved! Go to Solution.
Btw Mattjsrules: do you have any post made by Apple to confirm this has been fixed?
I was the first person to create a bug report using the Apple bug reporter.
My bug report was flagged as a duplicate.
(Probably because the other report had better technical terms since I am not an actual developer. HAHA)
Under my bug report it says the original report they are going by is closed.
Apple's definition of closed:
"A final resolution has been determined and your report has been closed."
I'm not completely sure if this has been fixed yet.
We will know for sure when Apple releases iOS 6 beta 5 or the gold master final seed.
There should be a new iOS 6 release soon.
The final release will be available to the public anywhere between September 12th and September 21st.
Alright 🙂 Thanks for the info Mattjsrules!
Hope this'll be fixed for the upcoming iOS 6 release 😄
The iOS 6 GM final release is supposed to be sent to developers tomorrow. We will see! 😃
Can't imagine the bug not being fixed on their side, else there'd be a ridiculous amounts of complaints for most 3rd party apps out there 🙂 but you never know, fingers crossed!
Seems like the problem is solved in iOS 6 GM!
I just installed the new iOS 6 GM final release. I'm still trying to figure out if the quality sounds good or not. lol
The iOS 6 GM cannot be installed via OTA update.
You have to backup and sync everything to your computer manually using iTunes.
You then need to restore from the file. After that, resync everything back to your device.
If you know how to download torrents, you can download iOS 6 GM here:

Yep. Confirmed - the issue is gone! 🙂
Also, it seems that Apple did do something with the sound - it sounds different now. I wanna say the sound is more crisp, with more pronounced details, with better defined sound stage.
