Unable to Connect Facebook Account

I have been subscribed to spotify premium on the college discount for a while now and decided to attach my facebook account to get the profile picture added. I am currently on a PC (Microsoft Surface Pro 3) running the latest versions of the spotify client and google chrome as of 1/8/2015. When I choose the button to connect to facebook in the spotify client my browser window opens and asks me to log in to facebook then asks me to accept the app request. When I approve the app request I see a blank window that has opened and my browser then says "OK". I check to see if my account is linked and I see nothing but the "Connect to Facebook" button still showing. I have tried finding solutions to this in other forums such as disabling advanced security in facebook and all but nothing has worked. Is there something I am doing wrong?
