Web Player Issue

Hi folks. We're aware that Web Player doesn't currently work for everyone.

We're investigating and will let you know when there's an update.

Hi all,

In my specific case, it was due to the fact that I had two accounts for different countries linked to the same user name.

Once I emailed Spotify support and had the account deleted for the country in which I no longer reside, the issue resolved itself!

Thanks,

J

Hello,

After installing Thusday package of windows updates my spotify web player doesn't longer work with IE11.

I'm getting a console message as below:

SCRIPT5: Access is denied. from:

File: postmessageRelay, Line: 1, Column: 1

It's a file from OAuth accounts.google.com site.

I've tried to run the web player inside a private-mode tab but then I've got this message:

SCRIPT5007: Unable to get property 'Login' of undefined or null reference
File: play.spotify.com, Line: 198, Column: 3

Thanks in advance for any hints.

i had problems with connecting to spotify in the browser player (using Linux that seemed to be the easy solution to access spotify) now i am using the beta version for linux BUT the problem with the webplayer is also solved: it turned out it wasn't the adblock:

IT WAS GHOSTERY. I use ghostery to make it harder for websites to track me: the point of spotify is partly TO TRACK MY MUSIC TASTE.

Trackers don't work: so spotify can't load it's page. Make exception for spotify, problem solved. Thanks for the input!

That is an interesting hint, thank you. Might also be the reason for problems with scrobbling that some users have in the web player. Although I do not use Ghostery and still cannot scrobble from time to time with the internal scrobbler.

On another issue: today a friend reported that he can use the web player in his company behind a firewall (NDR, big radio station in Northern Germany) in Firefox with the new URL https://play.spotify.com/?http=1 while the usual URL did not work for him.

hey there, im using the Microsoft Security Essencials but no firewalls as long as I know

Hi all, the web player does not start the songs, I've tried with IE, Firefox, Chrome but not working. The search interface works fine, but when choosing a song, it shows me the cover and the timer stays at 2 seconds to any song I choose.
What would be the solution to this problem?

EDIT

Sorry, I've solved by restarting the PC

How did you actually get hold of support? I have tried everything and no one will answer me whatsoever.

Buggiest WEBUI ever! Songs hang and skip to another that plays or a song plays for 10 secs then skips to another. If you click pause right away upon new station your SOL , non responsive... on all Browser flavors.

Ending this trial and going back to Pandora! You can take making me connect into Facebook on your desktop app and stick it where the sun doesnt shine...

Are there still issues? For a few weeks I am trying to open https://play.spotify.com/? and what I see in my console:

Uncaught ReferenceError: jQuery is not defined spotify-7436afc376.min.js:2
Connecting to wss://ash1-linkap-a1.ap.spotify.com:443

And that's it. This is with Firefox or Chrome without any extensions installed.

We have a normal business internet connection here in Calgary.

Still have problems here at work which started about 2 weeks ago. I was able to listen to music, but the next day Spotify was not able to connect and stays stuck on the connecting to Spotify screen. Using Windows 7 SP1 32bit, IE11, no extensions, Flash 15.0.0.233. No work was done on our network infrastructure.

Tried everything, clear cache, used the http1 option, tried logging out of every session, but none of them work. I truely hope this will be resolved soon, since Spotify made my work a lot nicer! 🙂

Hi everyone! I've been having some problems with my Spotify web player for a while now. The player has been very slow, but my wifi connection perfect. My player has just recently crashed and when I try to reload the website all I get is the web player home page completely blank with the spotify logo in the top left side corner? Does anybody have an experience with this type of stuff happening? I really need some help please. Thank you 🙂

Hi everyone!

I am having problems with the Spotify Web Player. It appears the message "Connecting to Spotify" and it doesnt move from there. I have tryed in incognit mode, but it still doesnt work. What can I do?

Thanks in advance

When I open the spotify web player, the only thing that is on the page is the spotify icon and dark blank background. I have been using spotify web player frequently and it's just today it didn't work.
My pc is running Linux, and I'm using Opera web browser.
I'm also on a school network, but it doesn't seem like they've blocked the page?

Does using this link make any difference?
https://play.spotify.com/?http=1

The normal web player streams using flash over some weird ports which are often blocked.

Maybe the Opera Linux version also got an automatic update today to v26 like the stable Windows version? Anyhow, deleting your browser cache and all Spotify-related cookies in Opera is always a good idea if the web player seems to have sudden problems it did not have before.

That link doesnt  work 😞

Hi,

I have the same problem. On my brand new computer i can't access the web player, it keep saying "connecting to spotify...". It is really really annoying because i can't use the spotify software : it doesn't work well at all with my screen and touchscreen (i've had no problem using it with the web player).

I tried everyting. I'm in France and my profile location says France. I tried you're link, did'nt work. I disabled Windows 8 firewall, didn't work. I'm out of solutions...

On all other computer i don't have any problem with the web player (windows & apple).

Regards,

thibaud

What type/brand of computer is it?

It's a Lenovo Yoga 2 13".

I had two of them. I send back the less powerful one.

With the one i kept i can't acces the webplayer. On the other one it was fine. I can't understand.

There was reported issues with some pre-installed software on Lenovo laptops. Can you try the steps in this post?

Lifesaver, absolutely amazing 🙂 thank you thank you

The first yoga i tried didn't have so much useless software (i found it strange), that's why it worked.
