Add support for Google ChromeCast

Will you be adding support to the ChromeCast that Google announced today? Would be great to be able to easily stream music from all my devices to my receiver and tv.

Update: implementing ChromeCast is superior to using the Chrome browser plugin to move a tab with the Spotify web interface to your TV for multiple reasons. Most importantly:

 - You can stream higher fidelity

 - You can stream from every device, not only from a computer/laptop

 - You can control from multiple devices (so if I leave the room my wife can control Spotify with her phone)

If implemented correctly this would match the functionality of Sonos for a much lower price.

Update February 4th 2014: Okay, so Google has released the SDK now. Please start working on the functionality or at the very minimum give an update to the status...

Update February 19th 2014: 2,000 kudos, hundreds of replies (with more than a handful of cancelations). Apparently Spotify Germany has confirmed Chromecast support is coming. An update would be nice

Update March 24th 2014: 2,500 kudos and still no update. Cancelled my subscription today. Sorry, but if you don't listen to your paying customers we will have to speak with our wallets.

I'm halfway through my free month of Google All Access. I love how I can simply redirect music from my phone and headphones to my Hifi System with the touch of a finger. I still use Spotify as my main player at work, but I'm on the fence about continuing my subscription. If spotify adds support for Chromecast, it is settled. If not, it is also settled, but Google gets my money instead.

My Play Music All Access trial is nearing it's end, and it looks like it's time to cancel the Spotify subscription. This feature is the deal breaker.

Pandora, Rdio, Google Play Music, Napster and Rhapsody. What do all those companies and their apps have in common? - Chromecast support...

Spotify? - No chromecast support, no timescales, nothing. - I think something needs to change here, don't you...?

I am also half way through my free trial for Google Play Music. Being able to stream my music to my speakers directly from my phone or pad is huge. If there is still no support for Chromecast by the end of the trial, I really have no choice but to change my music provider.

Dear SPOTIFY,

You have potential, you have a great product IF...you add CHROMECAST support. Kindly start sharing information or showing some iniative for adding support or I will CANCEL my subscription. Although I find SPOTIFY easier to use, I may overlook this for GOOGLE MUSIC. So with that said, if you want to keep me as a customer you should add CHROMECAST support.

If you do not plan to add support, please say so. Failure to show much iniative here will eventually drive me to cancel, in-turn I will resent it. Word of mouth is one of the best marketting machines, you don't want to put yourself in a position of poor word of mouth.

Much agreed! Spotify, you should get a team working on this! You'll more than likely get more users because Chromecast is getting HUGE everywhere. Currently, I use Pandora for streaming, if this gets added to mobile and the desktop app, I'll be dropping Pandora without a doubt. You've got a phenominal application right now Spotify, let's make it a little more fun for all users 🙂

I cancelled my account on March 7th. I would love to renew my subscription, but as it stands Rdio is getting my money. At least until Spotify wakes up and realizes customers want this.

Yea i'm fed up, not sure if it's the rebel inside me trying to stick it to the man..

But large companies have little to no respect to small customers.

And i feel sorry for the few working at Spotify that reads this and takes it personally because you're probably great developers (and other common foke) and i love your faces..

But Spotify's management suck at following the market fast enough.
