Can't merge Facebook and Spotify accounts

I want to merge my Spotify account with Facebook but I keep having trouble. I've tried it from the iPhone app, from the Mac app, and from the Spotify website, and I keep getting a message saying an error occured, that "we couldn't connect your Spotify account with Facebook, please try again." But no matter how many times I try again I still get the same message. Help?

I am not sure if i have put this in the correct place, apologies if not.

I am a new user, set up an account last week using my facebook details, i then found out the Virgin Media were offering a spotify deal. So I spoke to them and they set up a premium account for me, they said i would be able to merge the old account with the new. I am not to bothered about merging as i didnt have any important playlists on the free account, the problem i have is I need to edit some account details on my Premium account, one of the details is the email address- for some reason it is showning my sons email address not mine, when i attempt to change it ot mine, it says it is already registered with a spotify account, this would be my free account created with FB login. How can i delete the free account so it frees up my email address?

Just drop the customer services team an email using the online contact form and they will be able to delete the extra account for you.

I did send them a message yesterday, they then sent me a password reset email!

this is getting really tedious. 

I contacted CS using the contact form explained exactly what i wanted them to do i.e delete the account with my facebook log in so I would then be able to ammend my email contact address on my premium account so it is not showing my sons email address. I even put in capitals the correct email address i needded on my account. What happens, they send an email to my son yesterday to say they are looking into it and will contact again shortly. So contact email sent to wrong email address and then no follow up, this is not goo customer service for a new customer.

Hi DeanH - I'm sorry but I've been unable to locate that email thread you've described. However I can see you've written to us using a couple email addresses. 

A CS agent will get back to those newly opened cases shortly. I'm sure we can help sort this out for you, just keep an eye on your inbox.

I log onto spotify on my ipad using Facebook and it is obviously recognizing it because my fb profile pic comes up and asks me if it can share with my friends on my behalf. I select no and then a pop up box to connect to Facebook asks me to log in again. I do and then it says that account merge failed and my spotify account couldn't be connected with Facebook. Why won't it work.

There appears to be an ongoing issue with Facebook accounts not being able to log in correctly. 

The Spotify team are aware and are working on it.

Yes it is just a temporary problem (I hope) but not ETA I'm afraid, I don't work for Spotify so I can only go with what the staff tell me.

Having the same problem now. Reinstalled Spotify, but it denies consistently to integrate with my existing Facebook account, which already has a Spotify account attached. Result is all my playlists are lost.

I'm going to look into alternatives to Spotify.

@Duke2k - If you get in touch with the customer services team directly using the online contact form they will be able to lend a hand to get your account set up the way you like it.

If you get an automated email reply back directing you to the community or help pages, you need to reply directly to that email (even if its from no-reply) and one of the customer services agents will get back to you as soon as possible.

 I too have been trying to connect my spotify account with my facebook account. When I first signed up I didn't do so through Facebook, but now I want to connect to friends music and I am unable to. Everytime I try the link to get to FB from the spotify app on my mac it just connects to a blank page. CAN YOU HELP ME?? I've spent an insane amount of time trying to fix this problem. THANKS!
