I purchased the Spotify premium membership but my phone still says "Playlists can only be played by premium users. Use spotify radio". How long does it take for the settings to be updated ?

I tried cancelling the subscription and its not going through now. I dont want the premium memberwship anymore. This is messed up. Can someone please help just get my $10 back?
Some users posted that it took 1-2 hours to activate for them.
Sometimes a simple log out - log in works wonders too.
