My Account is getting used somewhere else without my permission preventing me from listening

My Account is getting used somewhere else without my permission preventing me from listening

Hey guys, Im Lars, or Smexy_Kaktus for that matter.

For a couple of days I cant really use spotify anymore because someone else is using my account. The music pauses every 9-10 seconds, which may just be coincidental, and using the web player it specificly told me that someone else is using my account. There are 3 possibilities how that could happen, 1. Im using spotify on my phone, but my phone is turned off and right next to me. 2. my father is using my account, but he is sleeping at the moment. 3. Somebody else is using my account without my permission.

As it is probably the third possibillity, can a staffmember please force a log out of my spotify account on all devices? Ive allready changed my password.

Also Im using spotify free, if that causes something like that to happen, as a restriction to how much I can hear. But this account is like 1 1/2 years old, so I doubt it is

thanks for the help 🙂

Have you tried resetting your password?

It will log anyone else using your account out, but if that is just you, your phone and your dad, its not a huge inconvenience to sign them alback in.

I have been recieving the same message recently but it hasn't been pausing my music, i assumed it was a bug, maybe to do with the recently added 'connect' feature but i could be experiencing something very different to you

Hey @Smexy_Kaktus  and welcome to the community!

Follow these steps to make sure no one hacks into your account (in the case IF someone was hacked you):

1. Change your passwords (facebook, email-account.. at least that the thief doesn't have access to it)
2. Go to your account settings and push the button "sign out everywhere" on the bottom.
3. If the "hacker" deleted some of your playlists, you can recover them here.

By the way, my desktop app is showing me "someone else is using your account" when I start the app on my phone, but of course this doesn't apply to you if your phone is shut down.

Hope that helps and no one but you is using your account again!

Oh thanks, didnt see the sign out everywhere button, thanks alot for the fast help 🙂

You're also kinda not allowed to share a Spotify account.

I AM NOT AN EMPLOYEE OF SPOTIFY AB. I am just a thirteen year old child trying to help out. I am not paid to help or say any views of Spotify AB or any of it's affiliates, so the least that you could do is share some kudos, or, if I helped you out, mark my post as a solution. It makes me all fuzzy inside
