New phone - spotify not working?

New phone - spotify not working?

Hi all,

I have just switched to another phone and my spotify doesn't seem to recognise that I have a premium account - I've lost my songs and in the app it says that i'm on the 'free' subscription. Can anyone help me?

i have logged out from the other phone and removed the device so maybe i'm missing something here?

Thanks!

Anna

Yikes!! Sorry to hear that.. but there your playlists should still be safe & intact.

See ...Spotify doesn't actually store the playlists and music on your device, they exist in the cloud unless you download them for offline, which just allows you to play them when you cannot connect to the internet.

This is a good thing, because if we change phones or computers, Spotify has our playlists and music preferences safe on their servers.

So.. I would recommend that you check to make sure that you are indeed signed in with the same account that you were signed into on the old phone.

I have accidentally signed in with an old account or created a fresh account accidentally and seen similar results. Typically I just had to sign out and then sign back in with the correct account.

If you are connected via facebook, make sure you are signed into the correct facebook account in safari (iOS) before trying to sign in on spotify via facebook. That has gotten me before too.

Hope that helps!

If this helps.. Please accept as a solution!

Hey @Ifymessi001,

Thanks for reaching out.

Would you mind letting us know exactly what's happening with the app? Is it not opening, is it not playing music, is something wrong with your subscription? Make sure to include as many details as possible so we can have a better idea of the issue.

Also, let us know the make, model, OS version and the Spotify version currently running on your phone.

We'll be on the lookout.

Hi,

My Spotify doesn't work correctly on my new Fairphone 6 Murena.

It play some of my downloads, but others not, and even some not downloaded songs, but mostly nothing.

When typing in the search bar it says that i need to check my internet, but my WIFI is on and working fine.

Opening Spotify on my laptop with the same WIFI works just fine too.

Regards, Mar

Hey @MarSpoti,

Thank you for letting us know 🙂

To begin troubleshooting this, let's go over these steps:

  • Perform a Clean Reinstall:
Follow these exact steps to uninstall and then reinstall the Spotify app to clear corrupted cache files. This process is more thorough than a regular reinstall.

  • Check App Permissions:
Go to your phone's Settings, find the Spotify app and make sure the app is not blocked in any crucial way.

  • Disable Battery-Optimization/ Task-Killing apps & VPNs:
Some apps designed to kill background processes or VPNs can interfere with Spotify's performance. Try disabling them to see if the issue resolves.

  • Adjust Streaming Quality:
Lowering the audio streaming quality in the Spotify app can reduce the demand on your device's processing power and internet connection, potentially preventing stuttering or crashes. It's a good idea to try a different internet connection as well.

  • Check Device Support & Memory:
Ensure your device is supported by Spotify and has at least 1GB of free memory available

In case the issue persists after this, let us know what Android OS version is installed on your Fairphone 6 Murena device is, as well as your Spotify app version.

Much appreciated! We'll be on the lookout for your reply.
