Using Spotify in a bar with a PRs for Music License?

Using Spotify in a bar with a PRs for Music License?

Just to check, would we be able to use Spotify in a bar if we have a music license?

Hey! Welcome to the community 🙂

Unfortunately not, Spotify is only licensed for personal, non-commercial usage so any public playback is a bit of a grey area in terms of the licensing.

Is this still the case?

I have noticed this statement from PRS;

Just wondering as I am soon to purchase my own PRS license for a start up business and I would love more than anything to use Spotify rather than other methods.

Hi there,

I currently work at PRS.

To be legally covered to play Spotify on your premises, you would have to specify with the licensing agent that you will be using a streaming service to play music.

This infomation is usually taken when setting up a new licence, or when a licence is being renewed.
