My Question or Issue

I don't have the new Lossless option on any of my devices.  App has been updated to the latest on all, still not there.

Your own AI help System said it should be on Family Premium yet I am not seeing it.

Yes I am looking in the right place, where you change the quality,  the highest I have is 'Very High' which is  not new.

The mind truly boggles as to how Spotify makes decisions.

Despite the communication from Spotify which said that lossless streaming would fall as part of our existing subscription they introduced a new more expensive and more limited "Premium Platinum" subscription.

This is so frustrating as a customer on a number of levels:

1. This subscription is not worldwide (I think they knew they'd never get away with it in large markets like the US / UK , etc)
2. Does not align with the messaging about how it would be included in existing subscriptions
3. They are not really offering bit-perfect lossless. The offering is arguably worse than Tidal and Qobuz who have had lossless for years.
4. The new subsciption is a downgrade in seats being offered. Premium Family offers 6 seats. Premium Platinum only offers 3 seats.
6. If you want to maintain 6 seats at the new rate, the cost jumps from R119.99 to R359.98, which is a 200% increase.

Why on earth would I do that when I can get either
* Tidal HiFi Plus for R109.99 a month with bit-perfect lossless and 6 seats
* Or Qobuz Studio Premier for ~R180 a month with bit-perfect lossless and MQA support and 6 seats

I just can't wrap my head around who is making these decisions at Spotify.

Really blows that once again Spotify treats certain markets like second class citizens and just how disappointing this whole lossless thing turned out.

We could have a discussion about market pricing or currency arbitrage, but I'll go with a simple comparison.

The Family Premium Plan costs $19.99 (R1773.74) while the Individual pricing is $11.99 (R1063.89). Your argument about pricing versus value is one that exists in the majority of markets Spotify represents.

Tidal or Qobuz absolutely have better bitrate for their lossless music (we can pass on discussing if you're using bluetooth or which model phone since they all downgrade the source in some form unless you use the correct combination of equipment). They also don't have anywhere near the market capture that Spotify does.

Not sure your complaint about pricing is going to gain traction dependent on the region. EU countries pay more and African/South American Nations substantially less than in the US. But I understand the economic rationale behind it, even if at times I'd rather not subsidize a "luxury good" in other regions simply because I'm in the US.

I think the shocker is not currency arbitrage but:

1. The creation of a new subscription tier despite the global comms that it would fall as part of the existing premium plan

2. The downgrading of 6 -> 3 seats. **bleep** I'd even be willing to pay if it didn't mean having to kick 3 members, create a second subscription and port half of the seats over.

3. The fact that the effective price increase (irrespective of currency arguments) is 200% for lossless for a family of 6.

I find it hard to take the opinion of someone in US seriously when you get lossless for free as part of you existing subscriptions and so essentially the option of lossless is no more than a radio button in the settings menu.

I don't care about "gaining traction" just more an illustration of the experience as a customer.

Lets steer clear of comments about BT as the interest in lossless was for playback on hi-fi equipment that would (if implemented correctly) offer an improvement in audio quality.

It's fine, I just moved to Tidal at R69.99 for myself and will leave Spotify to "casual" listening and the remainder of the family members.

It's difficult to take seriously someone who uses the term "free" as a sticky add-on referring to Lossless. Given the price differentials by region, some could make a valid argument about Free-Rider Effect whereby the inflated subscription fees paid elsewhere allow the lower rates in your region. (As for "seats"? You obviously are not well versed in the nature of how subscription models have shifted or that the terms shift continually.)

Tidal would be R975 ($10.99) equivilent in my region.

Do I get to whine about receiving the exact same services and pay a consider amount more simply due to being US based? R17730 per annum ($200) whereas you would pay R4320 ($48.50).

You are free to move services, like any other consumer. Your bias shows since you only consider the situation from your perspective and not that of others. (Plenty of people do not have the luxury of extra slack in their wages to pay for ANY Spotify.)

As Tidal scales I wouldn't be shocked to learn they adjust their pricing.

My Question or Issue

I pulled out the phone I use as an iPod (more storage space & spotify) this morning and couldn’t access any of my downloads. I removed them and redownloaded but noticed they were in the wrong quality and the “lossless” option which has been there for a while in settings is gone now. I’ve updated the app and it’s still gone. Should I not have updated, did I just lose my lossless? Any help appreciated

My post was marked as solved and I’m a bit confused. The solution in this thread is to “wait” for lossless but I waited, got it, enjoyed it, and then it went away. I’m not asking when I’ll have access to lossless, I’m asking why it disappeared and if this means I’ll never get it again because the phone is too old. Thanks in advance for any replies

My Question or Issue

24-Bit Audio Unavailable in Spotify India

I’ve noticed that Spotify limits premium audio quality to 16-bit in India. I tested several 24-bit tracks that are available in other regions (such as Canada and the USA), but in India the maximum quality offered is only 16-bit. (From my testing) I believe this may be a strategic limitation to reduce network load due to the high volume of users in India.

if you can find single audio file that plays 24bit, please let me know!

Not in South Africa yet. Its almost December

It's almost December. Don't have it yet

Unless you are willing to shell out for the new, more expensive Premium plan they introduced and get access to what is arguably a quite poor lossless implementation I would recommend going elsewhere for lossless streaming.

I reactivated my Tidal subscription for R109.99 p/m and use TuneMyMusic to synchronise my playlists between Spotify and Tidal. I've found I've enjoyed my time with the Tidal app and overall it offers better quality audio than Spotify Lossless.

Thank you very much for your input. I've been thinking about switching. But
I share a family plan. And one of the accounts is for my business, where I
use Sonos.
Also, found out loseless is not even announced for my country (Guatemala)

My Question or Issue

Hi everyone,
I’m trying to understand whether the Spotify Windows Desktop app currently supports lossless casting to external devices.

My specific case is the Bluesound Node N132.
Is it possible to cast from the Spotify desktop app to the Node N132 in lossless quality?
If yes, what protocol does it use (Spotify Connect?), and does it truly deliver lossless audio to this device?

Additionally, I’d like to know:
Which older Bluesound Node models (e.g., Node 2, Node 2i, Node N130) support lossless playback via Spotify Connect, if any.

Does this apply also when using the BluOS Controller app (on PC) as the control interface for playback — i.e. is the streaming quality still lossless when cast through BluOS?

I’ve found conflicting information online, so any official confirmation or user experience would be really appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

I have enrolled for the Premium Family Plan along with my family members since 2023 and right now they have changed the plans and made the Premium Family Plan as Legacy Premium Family Plan. They've also introduced a new Premium Platinum with Lossless Audio and i want to know whether that can be accessed for Premium Family Members too as I have been waiting for that for so long now !

My Question or Issue

My Android Smartphone has the lossless option.

My PC App does not have the lossless option.

Spotify no lossless.png

Hi I am an user of the Legacy Family Premium Plan and I have received the Lossless Update but it tells me I need to upgrade my plan to use Lossless but I was using one of the highest plans in Spotify shouldn't I and my family have the rights to hear in Lossless

As a long-time Premium member, I'd like to know why I still don't have the benefit of lossless music streaming. I've stopped listening to music on this platform and now use another one, which is why I'm forced to leave the platform permanently if my case isn't addressed.

No answer and just shoving my question in the solved and "will come later" section is sad.

If I have lossless on android and not pc, its not a rollout or account issue and its not solved.

To suggest I simply need to wati and hope it will function some day is not ok.

Have you tried updating Spotify to latest version? 👇 Or in the alternative, re-installed app?

*I know that sounds overly simplistic, but that was the issue for me in the US when they rolled out Lossless for PC app.

Screenshot 2025-12-05 113320.png

Although of course one of the obvious reasons, I was sure to be using the latest version, always clicking the "update now" button. But I was just copy and pasting the version info and noticed that it was still using version 1.248.instead of 1.278. After checking the "update now" button again, I could confirm, that it was simply not updating anymore.  It was donwloading, claiming to update and restart, but stayed on the older version.

After deinstallation and a new installation, the update function now works correctly again.

With

Spotify für Windows (64 Bit)
1.2.78.418.gaeeb5ebd

I can finally use lossless with spotify connect.

I’m writing to express my frustration regarding the continued absence of the Lossless audio feature. Spotify publicly stated that Lossless would be released by October, yet we are now past that date with no update, no rollout, and no clear communication.

As a long-time subscriber, it’s disappointing to see repeated delays and a lack of transparency about a feature many of us have been waiting years for. Competing services have offered high-resolution audio for a long time, and it’s becoming increasingly difficult to justify staying with Spotify when promised features don’t arrive as communicated.

Can you please provide a clear explanation of the delay and an accurate timeline for when Lossless audio will actually be available?
