My Question or Issue

Hey @brachtti,

Thanks for notifying us about this. Hope you don't mind me replying in English 🙂

Let's do a clean reinstall first. Before that, disconnect all devices from your account here.

Then follow these steps:

1. Go to Settings on your phone.
2. Select "Apps".
3. Tap "Spotify" in the app list.
4. Tap on "Storage> Clear Data" for a clean reinstallation.
5. Tap Uninstall.
6. Open Google Play and install the Spotify Music app.

Please make sure to check this again:

1.  Mobile Settings> Apps> Spotify> Permissions. Allow everything you see there.
2. Mobile settings> Apps> Spotify> Battery> Optimize battery usage> select top All (not optimized for apps)> Spotify> disable.
3. Restart the phone.

Keep us posted 🙂

Didn't work for me

Spotify is really, really, really, really bad

I'm a premium user for years and always liked Spotify, but unfortunately I'm canceling my account and I'll migrate to another music platform.

I cannot search any music, it keeps freezing and takes an eternity to load search page. I cannot play any music in the Home page, it keeps pausing and blinking the music. This is not a joke: last time I tryed to listen a music, the fight with app took about 10 min to start the music. When it started, the music was pausing and freezing the app more then 6 times. I cannot access my library because it takes about 5min or more to load it. Well... I can't do anything, I'm paying it for nothing. Not even the config section is opening, last time I tried it took more then 4 min to open it. I'm not able to hear a single music, it can't be played. App is completely crashed and not functional. This is a shame.

it's actually pretty gross that yoir answer to a simple problem like this is to have the user allow all permissions. contacts. photos. microphone. even though your ceo says they'll never be accessed without permission, its somewhat troubling that the issue of spotify playing after the is closed is to allow spotify to access your entire personal cell phone.
thats like being sick and going to the doctor , only to have the doctor require you to give him access to your personal social life that has nothing to do with him getting you better.

I have songs downloaded. Will this delete them?

I'm facing this issue since I chenged Huavei P9 to Samsung Galaxy 10.

I've tried all sollutions described here, but spotify randomly stops playing anyway. This occures more often when I'm listening something new, some new album. Sometimes when I wait a while, the music starts plaing again. But most often I'm applying a silly sollution:

Setting-> Applications-> Spotify Force Stop. Then I'm running Spotify and the music is playing till the next unexpected stop.

I have an S9+ and is happening the same problem

To be honest, I'm getting really **bleep** off with this app, because I can't do anithyng more listening to music, because the app stops in some points in a lot of musics.

I tryed everything that a lot of people said here, even your advices Petya

I was listening in my bedroom right now an I catch the exactely point in one song:

Surtada - versão funk

DJ Dollynho Da Lapa, OIK

At the second 0,43 the music stops, the "stop/play" button doesen't even change, only the music stops. But if I change for the other time after that point than the song comes back

Help me before I go to Deezer!!!!!

Hey there @Benfromfrance,

Thanks for trying out the given steps. Sorry to hear they didn't do the trick for you!

Can you try this? Here it goes: Go to Settings > Lock screen > FaceWidgets > turn off music widget.

This will allow Spotify's widget in the lock screen rather than Samsung's widget.

If this doesn't do it, let us know your device, OS and Spotify version.

Thanks!

This did not help me either. I raised this to customer support. it seems like an issue with samsung firmware and spotify's method of playing music. I noticed it helps starting the music again from the lock screen causing the issue to disappear. but its annoying when it does happen.

Getting a bit tired of the standard answer; "remove the app and install again"

It occurred after an update, so something in the update goes wrong. This is something Spotify has to sole, instead of reinstalling everything (including downloaded playlists)

It didn't fix it for me either.

Hey @Motorfret,

Thanks for reaching out here in the Community about this!

Keep in mind that a reinstallation of the app can help solve a number of issues with the app (like the ones mentioned in this thread). There's a good guide to do a thorough reinstallation in the above Spotify Answer.

If you've followed the instructions and the issue persists, could you check if Spotify is set as an exception for any cache clearing and battery optimization apps on your device?

If that doesn't solve it, it'd be helpful if you could tell us the version of your app as well as some details on your device so we can take a closer look.

Keep us posted! Have a nice day 🙂
