Where is the update on Spotify Lossless / Hi-Fi?

Where is the update on Spotify Lossless / Hi-Fi?

I would like to say that I've been a user of Spotify Premium for many many years now. I love Spotify, but it has fallen behind in its ability to deliver high quality, Lossless Hi Fi audio to its users, like it announced it would. I am wondering where, and when an update would be about when it is coming to its users. This is a heavily requested feature, and there was some major disappointment when it wasn't mentioned at all during the new update video this past week.

Spotify team, please give us some kind of roadmap on when this feature will be coming out. There is a noticeable difference between the bitrate of your streaming VS Apple Music or Tidal, and I'd love to keep using your service.

I could not agree more Nathan, WAVs or FLACs would be much more accurate to what the artist hears coming out of the studio.
Current situation:

Spotify offers different levels of audio quality for streaming music depending on the type of account you have and the device you are using. Here are the details:

  1. Free account: If you have a free Spotify account, the audio quality is limited to 160 kbps for desktop and web player and 96 kbps for mobile devices. This is lower quality than the other account types and may have some noticeable compression artifacts.

  2. Premium account: If you have a premium Spotify account, you can stream music at a higher quality than the free account. The default setting for Premium accounts is 320 kbps for desktop and web player and 160 kbps for mobile devices. This is a higher quality than the free account and should provide a better listening experience.

Spotify also only supports a fixed sample rate of 44.1 kHz for all of its music streams, regardless of the subscription tier you have. DAC's are outputting conversions up to 768kHz now, I believe its time for an upgrade.

I'll float this topic and tag it up so it can get noticed.

Without people like you we would never have advancements, keep pushing for greatness.

Highest regards,

I agree. Would love to have at least CD quality streams.

Can't you guys see that designing horrible UIs is much more important that sound quality? Just need to make these UIs lame enough, and the demand for hi-res would eventually vanish as users jump to other platforms. Elegant and simple solution.

Could not agree more! I also would like to keep my family account. But I'm already shopping around, testing multiple streaming services that do offer lossless media. They sound so much better than Spotify. You promised us HiFi quality, please offer it ASAP! I've been a long time Spotify premium user, but I'm seriously thinking of jumping to another platform that does offer lossless autio... Users ask for lossless audio, not some silly tiktok like stream...
