how to ACTUALLY use playlist exchange

i discovered playlist exchange a little over a year ago & i've been online non stop since the start of this global quarantine. here are some good things to practice (i'm definitely not the most knowledgeable so feel free to leave some tips of your own!)

1. actually follow other people's playlists (even if you dont listen to them 24/7)

this sounds like it should be fundamental but i noticed a lot of people say "i followed!" but don't actually follow 😞 i check my playlist follower count all the time and it stays the same so that makes me kinda sad lol

whenever i start a topic or participate in a thread i make sure to follow as many playlists as possible because i get tired of listening to the same playlists all the time

it takes 2 seconds to share your playlist, but it also takes 2 seconds to follow someone else's!

2. organize your playlists into folders

idk if this feature is only for desktop users but you can go to

file > new playlist folder

i have 2 main folders (mines & others). then, i create folders in those folders based on the genre/mood of each playlist so i can easily find them.

3. send private messages

sometimes people share playlists that make me feel so hyped & i wanna show my gratitude because i can feel the effort they put into their playlist! its also a good way to gain friends/followers on another level.

4. be genuine!

i realized that these are all personal preference but i rly appreciate it when people point out small things that they like about my playlists, whether it be an artist that they like or my description. at the end of the day we're all here to discover new music & i think one of the most important things is being nice to people!

haha im definitely missing points but these are some of my thoughts. if u decided to read this whole thing, i'm sorry that i'm illiterate but have a gr8 day!

I super appreciated this, I've been on here nonstop too since quarantine haha. I've noticed the same things as you, especially people not being very genuine. I really don't like seeing people drop their playlists that aren't even related to the thread. I usually try to say something and check out the playlist instead of just dropping my playlist and leaving. I don't like how often it feels like people just want "clout" for their playlists and all the "follow for follows". To me, it's about the experience or what's the point? I love talking to people on here and finding some playlists I can genuinely enjoy and find new music from.

Anyway, thanks for this! If you want, drop your playlists and I'll check them out 🙂

ik same, been here during quarantine too

I would love to get your opinion on one of my more popular playlist!
