Additional Jam Controls

Jam is a really fun feature when listening with friends remote or otherwise. However, some more refined controls would be a nice value add.

1. When the Jam is paused.

  • Problem Statement: When hosted on a mobile device a Jam could pause for all sorts of reasons, inbound calls, doom scrolling on Instagram, anything that takes speaker priority away from Spotify itself will pause the Jam. As a remote participant its impossible to know why the music has stopped.
  • Solution: Display a static message stating the reason for the pause, not just when I try to hit the play button again.
    • "Paused by Host"
    • "Paused by You"

2. Give the option to only be able to change queued songs and not the playlist that started the Jam.

  • Problem Statement: I start a jam, participants add songs to the queue. Then someone miss-clicks or miss-touches on a mobile device and instead of adding a song to the queue they end up dropping the whole queue and the jam restarts on a new playlist.
  • Solution: Allow an option for only the host to change the playlist. Restrict participants to only being allowed to add/change queue songs.
