In Our Headphones: ‌‌‌‌ 👻October 2023 🧛‍

Hello folks!

It's finally October, the spookiest month of the year. The month of pumpkins, witches, vampires and black cats. So prepare your brew and lay back to find out what's In Our Headphones over at Bogotá 🎧 🎃.

We start this horror cycle with @Heidy's suggestions as a music lover!

"There's no great mystery, really: they are all soundtracks from horror movies or series, there's even one from a video game. One thing about me is that I don't really like horror movies, but I love cinema in general and there are classics you can't miss. Besides, music always manages to take you to other places." The suggested tracks are: The Cramps - Goo Goo Muck, Bobby "Boris" Pickett, The Crypt-Kickers - Monster Mash; and Rob Zombie - Dragula.

"The Nightmare Before Christmas (Danny Elfman - This is Halloween) is a must in my house every year, for example. And Andrew Gold - Spooky, Scary Skeletons is from a Disney classic from the 1920s."

Now we have @Julian that started his selection with a melancholic song: I Miss You - Blink 182. In his own words "The aesthetic of the music video for this song will always remind me of Halloween. "We can live like Jack and Sally, if we want""

Next, a song about a very bad number: The Number of the Beast - Iron Maiden: As he mentions: "Does this one really need an introduction? This one's a classic"

Lastly, he finishes with a new release by a great band: Green Day's new song The American Dream is Killing Me. "The video is halloween/zombie themed and it's fresh as it was released only a few days ago. So perfect for this time of the year" You can also watch the video here.

Next up, we've @Eni suggesting an awesome movie soundtrack: "One of the most iconic Halloween movies is Hocus Pocus. I first saw it when I was a little kid and it scared me a lot, especially when the Sanderson sisters are recruiting children for their souls so that they can restore their own youth. While doing so, one of the witches Sarah is singing this song which I nowadays love: Come little children - Erutan

Continuing with her selection, we enter the witchy world with some magical tunes with Witch's Rune - S. J. Tucker: "This song always reminds me of a group of witches dancing around a huge bonfire in medieval Europe. At the age of 12 I was a big fan of this topic and read a lot of books about it. Also, I find the singer's voice absolutely lovely."

Next up, we've @Novy with her fine selection, starting with a series theme. "I really enjoy mystery, suspense and horror shows. Dark (Netflix) has been one of the coolest shows I've watched and I really enjoyed the story. The theme song feels very mysterious and somehow creepy to me, but I think it's awesome." Goodbye - Apparat

Continuing with her favorite themes: "The Saw saga is one that I also love! The effects and the makeup have always been very fascinating to me, so of course I watched the new "Saw X" movie at the beginning of the month (which I enjoyed a lot), and I can't help but think of the eerie theme that's so characteristic of these movies."

And last but not least, a perfect song for this spooky season from one of my favorite bands! I love the whole Infestissumam album, but this song has undoubtedly been one of my favorites.

And to finish off this month's selection, I got some tunes to add to this creepy version of this blog ⚰.

My first song is from one of my favorite horror movies of all time. It's actually having a sequel at theaters currently. I'm talking about the theme song of The Exorcist.

The next one is from a band I discovered back in 2007 in my goth phase. The sound is super spooky and has all the Halloween vibes in the music, the lyrics and the voices. Hope you all enjoy it. Creature Feature - The greatest show unearthed.

To finish this spooky selection, the next and last song is one of the big classics of horror movies. This one has been on my Liked songs for years and years. I love the band and I love the movie. Pet Sematary - Ramones

We hope you enjoyed this month's fine selection of songs. You can find the full playlist here 🎃
