My Question or Issue

For one of my family account members, certain artists don’t load. In addition, the search function doesn’t work either. I’ve done a software update, restarted the iPhone, uninstalled and reinstalled the app, logged out and back into the account, and also tried it on another device. With this account, I can’t load the artist “Bibi und Tina,” and the search function doesn’t work either. However, everything works fine with my own account. What could be the problem?

Hey there, @FionnHe,

Welcome to the Spotify Community!

Have you tested with another Wi-Fi network to see if it makes a difference? You can ask a family member to create a temporary mobile hotspot, for example. It's also worth testing with cellular data instead, if you haven't already.

If the issue persists, could you let us know if you get any specific error messages or if the app is just loading endlessly? A screenshot which captures how things look exactly would be greatly appreciated - just make sure no sensitive info (such as any emails, usernames, etc.) is showing.

Cheers 🤘

Thanks, Yordan, for your answer!

I tested the network. It works and it's not working better with a mobile hotspot. It's definitely not an issue of the internet or the app per se.

No, there ist sadly no message popping up. It's just an endless loading process and as it seems just with one artist. All others that I tested work fine. That's why I haven't attached a picture. As you just see the black screen with the three white moving dots.

I tried to find out in the settings whether the artist is blocked, however I couldn't find anything.

Another issue I’ve noticed is that I often have to close the app completely so that it runs smoothly again afterward. I’m not sure if this is related to the other problem.

I’ve now opened Spotify in the browser. There, the artist can be found and selected. I also saw that the artist isn’t blocked.

And as I reinstalled the app newly the whole downloaded library was empty and it changed nothing.

Thanks for the details, @FionnHe!

I believe this is the artist in question, correct?

I too can open it from my end, and given it works on the browser for you folks too, the issue might lie in the device itself. Could you let us know the device model, OS version + Spotify version of the devices where the artist & search won't load?

⚠️ Note: To ensure the proper stability and optimal performance of the app, it's recommended your device meets the minimum requirements for Spotify. Also, make sure you turn on automatic updates so you're always running the latest version of the app available.

Let us know how it goes.

Yes, it is Bibi and Tina.

My daughter's phone is a iPhone SE iOS 26.0.1; newest Spotify version. I updated everything in the hope that it would work afterwards.

When I use her account with my device (iPhone 12 mini; iOS 18.6.2; Spotify 9.0.86.1354) it doesn't work. If I use my account (same phone) it works.

It seems not really a technical as an account issue on any mobile device.

Hey there @FionHe, thanks for following up!

We appreciate you testing this on your own device, it helps us with navigate this issue further. To confirm, are you experiencing the same app behavior when logging in to your own Spotify account on your daughter's device too?

If things are working well with your account on your daughter's device, it's indeed possible that it's related to the account itself. In this case, we can suggest that she creates a brand-new account. Once it is created, you daughter can move any playlists from the old account to the new one by following the steps here.

The Family plan manager can also invite her new account to the plan with these steps.

Keep us posted on how things go 🙂
